I am pleased to be serving as your new pastor
12 months since we came to Trinity. Mary Ethel, Molly Kate, and I look forward to another year here
make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. All baptized members are appointed by the Lord to do ministry through our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Remember the four questions I asked a year ago? They relate to our mission statement, which ties in with what Jesus said are the two greatest command-ments: to love God with everything we have, and to love our neighbor as much as we love ourselves. How would you answer these questions today? To make disciples of Jesus Christ (love God) 1. Why do people need Jesus? In a world of options, why is Jesus the most important One? 2. Why do people need Trinity UMC? Of all the churches in Greene County, what do we offer here that
time, talents, and treasure? For the transformation of the world (love neighbor) 1. Besides ourselves, who else do we serve? If we were to close our doors tomorrow, who (besides our-selves) would miss us? And how long would it take for the community to notice? 2. What is God calling us to do or become at this time? How does God want us to reach out and offer Christ to those who are not attending any church? As our country expanded westward, the United Brethren and Evangelical and Methodist churches

bers. Is this a guilt-
By reaching out to others, in the process we end up be-ing nurtured and discipled. Ask those who go on mis-sion trips, help with VBS, visit the sick and shut-ins, donate to the Food Bank and Holston Home, or make intercessory prayers: who receives the greater blessing those we reach out to, or ourselves? When the an-swer is bothChrist grows. Blessings,
Pastor David

gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or na-ked and gave you clothing? And when was it that we saw you sick
I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me. This is the text out of Matthew 25:35-40. We learned this during our LexReach and Ichthus trip this past June. What incredi-ble words from Jesus about how we should be serving the least in
one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it
through life. So easy to ignore all the needs that surround us every-day. What would it look like if we all just tried everyday to do something for someone in need in a big or small way? How much better of a reputation would Christians have if we attempted to look up and find folks in need? How much greater would the Kingdom grow if we just tried little acts of kindness? I look forward to the future in hopes that Trinity can shed light into a very dark world.
Peace, John Redmond

A superstar with an ego bigger than a football field, Joe Kingman (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) is getting ready for a run at the big championship game when the 8-year-old daughter he never knew existed shows up at his not-so-family-friendly bachelor pad. As the big game gets closer, he begins to realize the most meaningful win he can achieve is the heart of the one little fan who counts the most.
