PRESIDENT'S NOTES

Hello Mustangers, fall is officially here and car events will begin to slow down soon. October is still full of events of one kind or another, though. Check out the web site and Facebook Page for all the info. We are all looking forward to seeing the High Five Tour wide-body Shelby when it

comes to town on the 26th. I know John, Elmer, Tommy and Dennis can't wait to get their hands on that beautiful machine. They will put a plan

together to pick the car up in Amarillo and I know some of you want to go and escort them to Lubbock. We will have more on that as it becomes

available. Remember, the car will be on display at Pollard Ford from 5 to 8pm.

Several of us have been going to Coffee & Cars the past few months and I recommend it to those of you who are up that early. It's good food and fellowship and there are some amazing cars that show up from time to

time. By the way, Abel in the parts department at Pollard Ford told me that LMC members can get a discount on parts if you mention you are in the

club. Don't forget, members also get a discount at NAPA. It's October, so not too early to start think about attending the Christmas Party on December 13th at 7pm, Hillcrest Country Club. Always fun and

great food and door prizes. Last but not least, I'd like to thank our friends at the Caprock Classic Car Club for inviting us to some great events this year. In September, several of our folks attended "A Night at the Races" and with Scott Cochran taking first place, Jimmy Godfrey in second and Monty Conn in third, giving us the

overall club trophy.

Also in September, a group of our folks cruised to Lamesa for "A Day in the Park". Thanks again, CCCC.

Doc's Thoughts

This month - Don't forget Coffee & Cars, Saturday the 5th, 8 to 10am at The Bistro, 98th

& Slide.

Also, the Celebrate Seagraves Car Show is the 5th, the Floydada Punkin Days Car Show

is the 12th, the Wolfforth Harvest Festival & Car Show is the 19th and the Texas Tech

Formula SAE Car Show is the 26th. Check out the "Coming Events" page on the Web

Site for all the info.

Most importantly for our club, the High Five Tour comes to town on Saturday the

26th. The car will be on display at Pollard Ford from 5 to 8pm. Please bring your

Mustang out if you can, we are looking to attract a lot of attention and there will be news

media present. The purpose, of course, is to raise as much money as possible for the

Wounded Warrior Project. We will let you know when plans firm up to go get the car in

a caravan of Mustangs.

"Mustangs Across America" is gearing up for the big 50th Anniversary drive next year.

The route is from Los Angeles to Charlotte and will pass just south of us, Midland to Dallas.

get all the info at www.mustangsacrossamerica.com. Also, check out www.mustangfest.org

for info on the cruise to Mustang Island in the fall. More on these events to come. Dennis

Quattlebaum is a veteran of both these drives if you have any questions. There's more on

MustangFest and Mustangs on the Lexington below.

The 2013 High Five Tour will be coming through Lubbock on October 26th. This is a tour of a new 800hp "wide body" Shelby GT500 to raise awareness and funds for the Wounded Warrior Project. As you know, our club has volunteered to drive and host the car.

John Davila, ElmerThornton, Tommy Persons and Dennis Quattlebaum are our lucky drivers. They will show and generally take care of the Awesome Shelby while we have it. John is the chairman of the group and has already got Pollard Friendly Ford on board to host the car for two hours that Saturday afternoon. I expect that we will organize a group of us to take our stangs and escort the car into and out of Lubbock. We would like to have as many cars as possible show up at Pollard for the showing, also. Remember, since this is for the Wounded Warrior Project, there will be a lot of news coverage. The bigger we can make the event, the more will be raised for the cause.
