Message from MHOA PresidentRegis Thorton

Hi, We here at the MHOA are wishing everyone a happy Fourth of July. We are asking everyone who is coming to the Celebration of the Fourth at the Club House, please sign up on the sign-up sheets. These sign-up sheets are located on the bulletin board and will be used at the door to check in those participating. Hawaiian Village and Bayshore Wind-mill Village have received sign-up sheets and are invited to celebrate this Fourth of July at the Club House with us. The Flag Raising will be at 9:00am on July 4, 2019 in front of the Club House. We will be displaying two brand new flags that were purchased for this occasion. Also, the Fourth Of July Golf Cart Parade will start around 9:30am in front of the Club House and work its way through the Village, so please sign up (on the bulletin board) for the Parade. On another note, the bocce courts are finished and are ready for play. We would like to thank Tom for a job well done.

From the Editor’s Desk Most people drink beer on the Fourth of July, but the Revolutionary War fighters celebrated with another classic libation - rum. On the second Independence Day in 1778, George Washington ordered a double ration of rum for American soldiers to celebrate with. So, this July 4th, pour yourself a strong rum cocktail. It’s what the Founding Fa-thers would have wanted. Today, we eat burgers and hot dogs by the dozen on Independence Day. Our Founding Fathers, however, feast-ed on completely different foods to celebrate the nation’s birthday. John Adams and his wife indulged in turtle soup, New England poached salmon with egg sauce, green peas, and boiled new potatoes in jackets for their July 4th meal in 1776, followed by Indian pudding or apple pandowdy for dessert.

PV MessagesMessage from PV Manager

Merry SinacoreHappy 4th to all Residents

from your staff at Plantation VillageHi, Everyone! I have had several residents complain about the feral cats that are in your community, Ron has put out traps. There is no way we can control this when there are residents that continue to feed the feral cats. If you see a stray cat or dog please feel free to call Animal Control at 941-742-5933. Other important numbers for all of you are Spectrum 855-222-0102 . If your electric goes out call FPL and report it @ 941-917-0708. If you need a special pick up by the garbage men please call Manatee County Utilities @ 941-792-8811. We are updating all of the HOPA Forms; this is the gov-ernment form that keeps track of everyone’s age, so you can remain a 55+ community. This form must be updated every two years. Yes, we know you have all already filled one out, but the state requires a new one every two years. We will also need an update on your pets. If you have the same pet – a different pet, we will need to know. The most important document we need is your certificate for the rabies shot. This is mandatory and mandated from Mana-tee County and our attorneys. So please help us get these issues done and we can go on enjoying the summer. The carpets in the clubhouse and the two cloth chairs in the library have all been professionally cleaned, and the clubhouse floors have been stripped and waxed. Please remember to pick up after your pet, have them on a leash when outside. Do not let them walk in other resident’s yards. PV has grown to near full resident capacity, and we wel-come all our new neighbors! Due to higher usage, more residents and guests, I would like to remind everyone to be careful about what goes into your bathroom toilets and sinks. If we do not pay attention to these issues, we then have issues with lift stations and clogs. This will cause a money issue-LOL. So please pay attention to what gets flushed and what is out down your drain. Please make sure all the carports are free of anything that can fly. This is the time that we get strong storms and need everyone to be safe. We are going into the rainy season and the storms will be coming along with the rain. I would like to remind everyone that with the rain your weeds grow exponentially so you will have to keep on top of getting the weeds taken care of.

Merry, Ron, Mary Lou & Tom Have a great 4th!

This is before !

This is the after-what a beautiful home!

I try to walk through this part of the park in the morning and this is what I get to look at!

Here is the New Fountain that really looks great-spraying and giving all the wild life a shower.

MEET YOUR NEIGHBOR PEPPER MARTIN

By: Ted Ormiston Pepper Martin was born in Sarasota, which he says was “a very long time ago.”  Being a native Floridian almost makes Pepper unique among most of our Plantation Village res-idents who have fled the cold and snow up north for the warmth and brilliant skies of the Sunshine State. Pepper was asked to run for the HOA board in 2005 and served for 10 years, including two terms as president. Pepper spent his younger years as a member of the Coast Guard and as a charter boat captain in the Gulf and throughout the Atlantic Ocean and the Bahamas.  Then he entered the business world spending 30 years with a local Fortune 500 company dealing with public relations, sales and contract negotiations, overseeing 8 million dollars in annual sales. He says his best quality has always been listening to the people around him. He feels that more can be accomplished if you are truly interested in hearing what others have to say. Now that Pepper is retired and not serving on the HOA board he spends time with his friend Sheryl Newman at 16 Cherry and is always ready to chat with his friends and neighbors. Thanks so much Pepper for you service to Plan-tation Village.
