Basic Truth: God loves me.

Key Question: Whose way is perfect?

Bottom Line: Gods way is perfect.

Memory Verse: Gods way is perfect. 2 Samuel 22:31, NIRV

Bible Story: I should do what God says even when its hard. Naaman 2 Kings 5:1-14

What You Need: Nothing needed

What You Do:

Before the activity: Stand together in an open area in the room.

During the activity: Teach the children the Memory Verse and do the motions together.

At the end of the activity: Say the Bottom Line with the kids.

What You Say:

Before the activity: Come stand with me and get ready to learn our new Memory Verse.

During the activity: The Bible says, Gods way is perfect, 2 Samuel 22:31. Lets say that together. Repeat after me. Gods way (repeat) is perfect (repeat), 2 Samuel 22:31. (Repeat.) Great! This time Im going to add the motions to it. Gods way (point both hands up) is perfect (two thumbs up), 2 Samuel 22:31. (Open your hands like a book.) Lets try that together. (Repeat as many times as desired.)

At the end of the activity: Great job learning the Memory Verse today! The Bible says Gods way is perfect! That means that you can believe and I can believe what God says! Whose way is perfect? (Pause.) [Bottom Line] Gods way is perfect.

What You Need: Laminated poster-sized picture of Naaman, red stickers, spray bottle with water

What You Do:

Before the Bible story: Hang the poster somewhere highly visible. Place the spray bottle of water and stickers close to the poster.

STORYTELLER: Hey there, friends! My name is [Storytellers name], and I have an amazing, incredible TRUE story to tell you today. I read about it in my favorite book. Does anyone know what my favorite book is? (Pause for response.) Thats right! The Bible! I read all the best stories in the Bible. And todays story is extra special.

Do you want to hear a Bible story about how a man with a really funny name learned that [Bottom Line] Gods way is perfect? (Listen.) You do? Well, great!

So, this is the guy I was telling you about. (Point to Naaman poster.) And his name is Naaman! Get it? This mans NAME is NAAMAN? (Giggle.) I think its such a fun name! Lets say it together on three. One, two, three, Naaman! Good. Now, poor Naaman had a problem. (Start sticking red stickers all over the poster.)

Naaman was sick with the spots. He had a disease called leprosy. He itched and hurt all the time. The spots were everywhere! And no one could help Naamannot a doctor, not a teacher, not even his parents. No one could help him. No one except God, that is!

Naaman received a letter that told him theres a friend of Gods named Elisha and he might be able to make you better! So Naaman went to see Elisha.

When Naaman got to Elishas house, Elishas messenger told him that God would heal his spots if he would go take seven baths in the Jordan River. Now, you think Naaman would be jumping up and down excited! God was willing to heal his spots! But do you think Naaman jumped?

No. He thought Elisha would just wave his hand and his spots would go away. Taking seven baths sounded WAY TOO HARD. Raise your hand if seven baths sounds like a lot to you. (Pause for response.) Youre right. It is a LOT of baths. Maybe Naaman thought so, too. But Naaman decided to trust that Gods way was perfect, so he went to take his seven baths.

Lets help Naaman count how many times he takes a bath. Ready? (As you count, spray the Naaman poster with water and wipe the sticker spots off.) One, two, three, four, five, six, seven! Look! No spots! God made Naaman all better! He took away all of Naamans spots!

Yeah! I bet Naaman jumped for joy then. Even though it was hard for Naaman to follow Gods directions, he did it. Because Naaman knew that [Bottom Line] Gods way is perfect. Whose way is perfect? [Bottom Line] Gods way is perfect. Can you say that with me?

STORYTELLER AND CHILDREN: [Bottom Line] Gods way is perfect.

STORYTELLER: Even when Gods directions seem hard to follow, we should do what Naaman did and just obey them anyway. One last time: Whose way is perfect?

STORYTELLER AND CHILDREN: [Bottom Line] Gods way is perfect.

STORYTELLER: Lets pray.

God, thank You for healing Naaman. He did what You told him to doeven when seven baths sounded like a whole lot! And when he did, You healed him! Thank You for showing us the perfect way. We love You. Amen!

Pinch the Pom-pom

What You Need: One clothespin for each child, small paper cups, a large plastic bowl, and lots of small pom-poms

What You Do:

During the activity: Give each child a clothespin and a paper cup. Pour all of your pom-poms into a large plastic bowl. Challenge the children to try and pick up seven pom-poms from the large bowl and put them into their paper cups. As each child finishes his task, walk over and count his pom-poms with him. Congratulate them on their accomplishment and tell them to try and do it again. Switch it up and tell them to try and get seven of one color.

What You Say:

Before the activity: I have a bowl full of pom-poms. What colors do you see? (Pause.) Do you think I can pick a pom-pom up using this clothespin? (Pause.) Watch and lets see if I can do it. (Pick up a pom-pom with a clothespin.) I did it! Now lets see if I can pick up seven pom-poms and put them in this cup. Watch and lets see if I can do it. (Pick up seven pom-poms and put them in a cup.) Wow! I did it! I have enough clothespins and cups for you to do it too. Just squeeze the end of the clothespin and then let it pick up the pom-pom. When you want to put the pom-pom in your cup, give the clothespin another squeeze and watch it drop.

During the activity: Do you have seven pom-poms? (Pause.) Lets count them together. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven! You did it! Give me a high five! Now try and get seven (color) pom-poms. (Go around to each child and say something like this.)

At the end of the activity: Our Bible story today was about a man who has to dip seven times in water to make all his boo-boos go away. Count with me! One, two, three, four, five, six, seven!
