Our flagship Exhibition range is very important to us. Not only are the wines chosen with passion by our buyers to stand as iconic examples of their style or region, they’re also a symbol of the strong relationships we’ve nurtured with some of the world’s finest winemakers, who collaborate with us on many of the wines. Our buyers often even have a hand in the blending process to make sure they always hit the sweet spots of quality, value and authenticity.
This informal walkaround is your chance to taste 20 of these benchmark wines, from classics like our Exhibition Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Sancerre and Chianti Classico to outstanding examples of regional treasures such as our Exhibition Mendoza Malbec, Exhibition Central Otago Pinot Noir and the recent addition of our Exhibition Napa Valley Zinfandel. There will also be an educational table and the opportunity to try a blind tasting. Don’t miss this special evening representing some of the biggest names in fine wine.

A hotbed of diversity, great quality and unbeatable value, Chile’s wine scene is one of the world’s most exciting, and this informal walkaround tasting aims to showcase exactly why.
The country has a proven track record with Bordeaux grapes, with bold, cedary Chilean cabernet and merlot attracting international acclaim for over 20 years, and Chile has also adopted carmenère as its signature grape variety, earning a name for voluptuously fruity and rich reds.
But with such varied soils and altitudes and excellent grape-growing conditions, Chile also produces high-quality syrah, grenache and pinot noir as well as cool-climate whites ranging from complex chardonnays to delicate rieslings.
There is something for every wine drinker to be found within Chile – come along and discover a new favourite.

8 SEATED, TUTORED TASTINGS FLAGSHIP EVENTS FEATURING SOME OF THE WORLD’S GREATEST WINES
French wine accounts for half of all the wine we sell but how well do you know France’s many wine regions? Are you a traditionalist and stick to the big names like Champagne and Bordeaux or do you prefer to explore the fruits of the vineyard less travelled?
We’re holding this relaxed and enjoyable tutored tasting at the same time as the peleton is riding in the official Tour de France. Join us and sample French wines from the classic regions like Burgundy, Rhône and the Loire alongside lesser-known gems. As we taste through 10 wines, we’ll aim to bring them to life by answering questions like: what makes Champagne so special? Can you still find good value in Burgundy and Bordeaux? Is the quality of Languedoc and Roussillon wines comparable to the bigger names? You’ll also have the opportunity to discuss your preferences and ask your own questions throughout the night.
We hope you can join us – salut!

We are excited to be offering a new programme of educational events at the Institute of Masters of Wine headquarters in Vauxhall. These masterclass events will be led by two of our buyers who have achieved the prestigious Master of Wine qualification, Joanna Locke MW and Sarah Knowles MW.
The aim of these exclusive classes is to reveal the magic of two iconic wine regions in a way that will appeal to both aficionados and those looking to learn more:
Our Port buyer Joanna Locke MW will guide you through the many different guises of this much-loved fortified wine from the Douro Valley, including Late-Bottled Vintage (LBV), Vintage Port and single Quinta expressions.
Champagne buyer Sarah Knowles MW will help us taste through a series of wine flights showcasing this legendary bubbly’s broad range of styles, from big Champagne houses to smaller grower producers, and help you to discover which styles you like best and why.
During these special evenings the buyers will also be delving into our museum bin to select some special mature bottles you won’t want to miss.

What better time than the last hurrah of an English summer to enjoy a tour of one of the country’s oldest and best-loved wineries?
To celebrate 25 years of association between The Wine Society and Three Choirs we’re off to the heart of the English countryside where the three counties of Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire converge. Here we’ll meet with the talented Three Choirs winemaking team and enjoy a tour of the vineyard and state-of-the-art winery.
After this we’ll be tucking into a long lunch at their contemporary bistro, and of course this will be served alongside a delicious selection of Three Choirs’ award-winning wines. This is the perfect opportunity to see first-hand what makes Three Choirs one of the leading producers of English wine and taste for yourself why we chose them to make our Society’s English White.
Join us as we see out the summer in style. There are even Vineyard View rooms available if you’d like to stay the night (visit three-choirs-vineyards.co.uk to book rooms separately).

Charcuterie, cheese and wine are, for many, three of life’s greatest pleasures – and even better when enjoyed together. Some might even say that it is these, rather than love or the sun’s gravitational pull, which make the world go round.
Celebrating this philosophy, the Tastings and Events team is hosting an informal walkaround tasting showcasing a dozen of our top wine picks for summer sipping. Sparkling wines, crisp whites, juicy rosés as well as tasty, barbecue-friendly reds will all be on offer to get you in the mood for sunny days. Once you’ve tasted the wines, you’ll be invited to pour a glass of your favourite and sit down to an indoor picnic consisting of a delicious selection of meats and cheeses. Join us on this relaxed Saturday morning tasting – the perfect way to kick-start your weekend!

Commemorate Bastille Day a day early with this dinner that will celebrate all things Gallic (with the help of a touch of garlic, of course).
We will be bringing France to Stevenage with a specially prepared French menu served alongside carefully chosen wine pairings which we hope will add a little ‘je ne sais quoi’ to this fun soirée. With almost half the wines in our List coming from France, we’ve certainly got plenty to choose from, so we’re taking things to a new level and trying to find some special French food and wine combinations you may not have tried before.
Come and join us for an unforgettable evening celebrating all things Français – fun guaranteed, berets optional.

A warm welcome awaits you in The Cellar Showroom before we embark on a walking tour of the cellars, learning about the 144-year history of The Society. This includes our eco-friendly fourth warehouse, which alone holds more than two million bottles of wine. Back in The Showroom a cool glass of fizz can be enjoyed before lunch.
After the tour we’ll be enjoying a four-course lunch, freshly prepared with seasonal ingredients, accompanied by a tasting of five wines, all specifically chosen to complement the menu. At the end of lunch a member of our Tastings team will give a short talk on the wines and, just for fun, take a vote to discover the favourite wine of the day.

Summer getaways to the coast give us a chance to enjoy delectable fresh seafood dishes, and there’s a special joy in finding a zesty white to accompany a plate of freshly caught fish. While Stevenage isn’t exactly near the sea, we hope to capture some of the seaside’s pure and revitalising powers at our summer seafood and wine pairing lunch.
It’s natural to reach straight for white varieties such as sauvignon blanc, riesling and chardonnay (and we’ll be exploring some of these, of course), but we also want to show that you can find interesting and exciting alternative seafood matches in lighter reds like pinot noir, or even sparkling wines.
Join us for a fun lunch of lip-smacking seafood- and-wine combinations.

We all know the saying that wine gets better with age but is this always true? And if so, why?
In this informative and entertaining workshop, Tastings and Events manager Tim Schwilk will look at how wines develop over time through a series of comparative tastings between new releases and older vintages of a selection of wines including riesling, chardonnay, shiraz and cabernet.
Why does the taste of a wine change over time? How can you decide whether a wine is ready to drink or how much longer it should be kept in the rack? What should fans of mature wine that don’t have a cellar do about storing their older wines? Find out the answers to all these questions and more at this fun, educational event which we hope will give you the confidence to explore older vintages more often.

WINE CONFIDENCE: HOW DO WINES AGE?
Loved by many but avoided by others, chardonnay is arguably one of the world’s most misunderstood grape varieties. Australia did it no favours with poorly oaked exports in the 1990s, and as France’s wine labels promote place over grape, there are still many who don’t realise that some of their favourite wines are made with this variety.
The truth is, with its chameleon-like nature and ability to take on character and flavours from terroir and winemaking techniques, chardonnay has the ability to create truly diverse styles, making it many winemakers’ preferred grape.
Join Tastings and Events co-ordinator Anna Spooner for a fun workshop exploring how chardonnay can (and should!) taste. We’ll try eight different styles of chardonnay, including a blanc de blancs Champagne, classic crisp Chablis, new world wonders and buttery food-friendly versions. Even chardon-naysayers might just be converted…
