Summer tends to bring with it a sense of excitement and adesire to get outside and be active. That’s awesome, but forseniors who have a higher sensitivity to heat, a little morecaution needs to be exercised when it comes to making plans inthe sun.
As long as you’re careful and stick to a few main safety tips, youcan enjoy most of the summer activities you can imagine. Hereare 7 summer safety tips for older adults:

Healthy Summer Eating Tipsfor SeniorsWaterWater is probably, or maybe even most definitely, the most crucial "nutrient" youshould be taking in all summer long. It transports essential nutrients, regulatesyour body temperature, keeps you hydrated and energized and helps withdigestion. And, when it comes to summer time, the heat and activity definitely callsfor an increase in your normal intake level. Plus, if your skin is feeling more“wrinkly” or “saggier” than normal, it’s not necessarily just a sign of aging, it canalso be a lack of water. Get in some green leafy juices and cucumber juice to seeif it helps. Now, here's where summer comes in handy! If you already feel likeyou’re drinking a lake every day, you really need to take advantage of fresh

Good People GettingScammed #2Dear Residents,
Last month we commenced our Good People Getting Scammed newsletter articleseries. We explained why the senior population is often a target for fraud schemes.Among the reasons is that people growing up before the 1960's are raised to be politeand back then being polite often meant not saying "no", or at least not saying nowithout apologizing for it.
Last month we covered IRS Impersonation Scams. This month we will focus on thedreaded unsolicited call, including robocall. As mentioned last month, there are plentyof con artists looking to swindle you just because you are so nice. So try practicing asimple "no" and if that's too difficult, a "no thank you". Better yet just hang up thetelephone on these crooks!
There are many different versions of these robocalls and/or unsolicited phone calls.
One common version is when a scammer calls to inform a victim of an expired carwarranty.
Another version involves a request to donate to a cause such as fighting breastcancer. Sometimes the caller's phone number will even show up on the caller-ID as"Women's Cancer" or another cause that may look legitimate.
Yet another version involves a scammer calling to inform the victim that they havewon $1 million dollars but in order to receive it they would first need to pay $200 infees or taxes. Often victims are instructed to purchased iTunes gift cards in order toreceive their prize. After purchasing the gift card, the victim is asked to read thenumbers on the back of the cards to the person on the phone. This allows thescammer to steal the funds off the card.
With these scam scenario's there will be ultimately be a request for payment or creditcard number. There is always a sense of urgency.
The federal Communications Commission (FCC) has published the following tips forconsumers to avoid being deceived by caller-ID spoofing:
Do not give out personal information in response to an incoming call. IdentityThieves are clever: they often pose as representatives of banks, credit cardcompanies, creditors, or government agencies to convince victims to reveal their

account numbers, Social Security numbers, mother's maiden name, passwords, and other identifying information. If you receive an inquiry from a company or government agency seekingpersonal information do not provide it. Instead hang up and call the phonenumber on your account statement, in the phonebook, or on the company's orgovernment agency's website to find out if the entity that supposedly called youreally needs the requested information from you.

Wow Moment! When the movie, “Footloose,” was promoted at the Egyptiann Theater we
knew one resident who woulvd be thrilled to see it, Yevette Richarson! She has
such a great love for movies, music and dancing taht we knew that this movie
would be a "perfect date" for her. Yvette's companion for the night was Willow
Park employee, Josh Faner. Josh and Yvette have a great realationship and
anyone who has seen their interaction would think that they have been friends
for years. During our enatertainment events, Josh makes sure to find Yvette so
they can dance and sing . They both have a great love for music, movies and
dancing. Their night began with UBER ride to the Egyptian Theater. After
walking around and enjoyng the beautiful evening, they headed in for the
featured film. The duo enjoyed some snacks and refreshments and stayed for
the entire moive! A very special thank you to Yvette’s family and Josh Faner
for the opportunity to change up Yvette's routine for one night out of Willow
Park community for the "perfect date" with her favorite caregiver.
