for nearly everybody in Butrovich is on her way to Colorado where her husband has a new job and she will ponder pursuing a PhD do some part time work creating web sites and even think about mother hood V Janene Sikkink who received her MBA from UAF worked for UAF and Alaska Internet before joining statewide in She was also elected to the Statewide Administration Assembly and has served as secretary for the past several months Janene and her husband Jeff will leave for Boulder later this month Jeff who has received his Electrical Engi neering degree from UAF will start with IBM in August “I’ve had the honor and pleasure of working for several different managers/directors and managing many fine staff” Janene said “Robert Noland Sharon Gramstad Art Greenwalt Kevin O’Connor Laura Katucki Michael Simmons Terry Miller Lana Grimes Martin Miller and Lori Fields to name a few I’ve Landscapers have been busily at work in front of the Butrovich Building planting a variety of native Buddy’s a lucky dog% Aftergetting hit by a car in Big Deltaon May B=� he lay by theroadside� badly hurt� for twodays until he was rescued byUA employee Gary Hagestead%

Gary’s co�workers at ARSCand others in Butrovichdonated cash and goods to sellto raise just over ;�=== to helppay Buddy’s vet bills%

After several surgeries�Buddy’s doing okay� though hemay still lose his left rear legbecause of severe nervedamage%

Thanks to Gary and his wife�and to all the others whohelped� Buddy is now beingproperly cared for� and he’sbeing treated with love andrespect% Both he and Gary aregrateful for the support%

Change happens% Sincejoining statewide I’ve workedout of four cubicles and oneoffice% Add the two cubicles Ilived in when working forARSC and that brings my totalto E spaces in four years%

This last round of moves hasme a bit stumped � it seems tome like this building is a set oflegos and we’ve rediscoveredour creative side% I know thatmany people have beenimpacted and more change iscoming% In a year or twoeveryone will look back andsay� ‘what extra space?’ SincePresident Hamilton’s taken thewheel� I’ve had the feeling that

we were on the move% We’readding bodies to help carry theworkload% We’re addingprojects to meet the needs ofour customers and entice morestudents to make UA theirchoice%

Speaking of moving� youshould see my home% Jeff and Iwith the help of our closefriend� Ajay Nautiyal� pulled upour carpet just last Saturday%Movers came on Thursday andby Friday morning all that wasleft was what could fit in thetrunk of our car%

Back to Butrovich � lastweek Barb Branton from theGeneral Counsel’s office askedme if she could place anumbrella plant on our cabinets(we have computer basedtraining cds that anyone cancheck out—they are in a casenear the window—see LoriFields for more information%)‘Okay%%%’ You should see thejungle now� it extends fromthe sink to the window% I’mglad to see our friends fromupstairs come down to visit�and if I were going to be herewhen they leave� I’d probablybe happy to see that too% Ithink the jungle is a greatimprovement% Maybe whenGeneral Counsel leaves otherswill bring in more greenery tofill up the empty space% That’sall from me!
