View this email in your browser July Updates July 1, 2017 Dear Kasamas -- From celebrating the Philippines' 119th Independence Day at the City of San Jose's Annual Flag Raising Ceremony, to our summer Fly Pinays Mentor & Mentee Dialogues event at Google, and our Chipotle fundraiser (thank you to those who supported), June held many exciting opportunities, memories and experiences for our group. Looking into July -- our summer Awareness in Action Program begins in two weeks and our organizing team couldn't be more excited! In addition to gearing up for our eight-week course, we have a few updates to share with folks -- we are currently searching for a "Naturalization Ceremonies Head Organizer " to lead our voter registration and volunteer management efforts throughout the fall. See below for more details! Also, later this month, we'll be hosting our first "Filipin@ July Calendar July 1: "Might 4 Day" 19th Annual Celebration at Alvarado Park in Union City from 12pm to 5pm. July 10: Awareness in Action Session #1 "Introductions, Tone-Setting, & Team-Building" at AARS (1340 Tully Road, San Jose) from 6pm to 8pm. (Participants only.) July 17: Awareness in Action Session #2 "Pre-Colonial Philippines, Class Structures, & Feudalism" at AARS (1340 Tully Road, San Jose) from 6pm to 8pm. (Participants only.)

July 1, 2017 Dear Kasamas --

From celebrating the Philippines' 119th Independence Day atthe City of San Jose's Annual Flag Raising Ceremony, to oursummer Fly Pinays Mentor & Mentee Dialogues event atGoogle, and our Chipotle fundraiser (thank you to those whosupported), June held many exciting opportunities, memoriesand experiences for our group.

Ethno-Exposure Tour" on Saturday, July 29th of SanFrancisco's South of Market (SoMa) Pilipinas Cultural Districtfrom 10am to 5pm. This Tour is open to everyone in thecommunity, we just ask that you sign up here as we arecoordinating carpools.

The SoMa Pilipinas Tour will include key dialogues withFilipin@ community action groups and advocates, such as theBayanihan Community Center, to elicit conversation amongstour members on issues of land use, zoning policies, and thedevelopment occurring in SF that continues to push the most-vulnerable to the margins.

As a community organization nestled in San Jose withdisplacement happening in our own neighborhoods, we hopeto inspire positive action that our members may take in theSouth Bay following the Tour.

We look forward to seeing many of you throughout thesummer. If you have any questions, please do reach out!
