Dr. Maloof has been an active member of DMA for many years and currently is serving as a Board Member. Dr. Maloof says that he decided to become a chiropractor at a very early age. Actually, it was his calling. Without regular chiropractic care, he honestly believes that he would not have the quality of health that he enjoys today. The human body is a very complex machine and just like your automobile, it requires basic maintenance to keep it running properly. Many patients are surprised at the far reaching effects of quality chiropractic care and the wonderful relief they get which results in better health. Offering a gentle and precise chiropractic adjustment, Dr. Marion Maloof is committed to teaching about the basics of chiropractic health care and how it can improve your quality of life. Chiropractic is THE natural approach to health care without the use of drugs or surgery. Chiropractors relieve nerve pressure by gently removing misalignments of the spine, which are called subluxa- tions. Without these roadblocks, 100 percent of the nerve supply is able to flow from the brain, down the spinal cord, through all the spinal nerves, to every organ, tissue, and cell in the body. Chiropractic adjustments assure proper nerve function, giving the body optimum health potential. Dr. Maloof opened his clinic in April, 2001 offering a different type of chiropractic treatment than the spinal manipulations that most people are familiar with. Dr. Maloof practices the Atlas Orthogonal method of chiropractic. The treatment focuses on the first vertebrae in the neck, at the brainstem, through which most of the nerve impulses connecting the brain with the rest of the body travel. The neck has always been a focus area of chiropractic because proper balance and alignment of this area affects so much of the body. The treatments are gentler for patients and are made with a percussion type instrument which releases an energy wave to align the spine. This energy wave places the atlas in an orthogonal position, (which is a Greek word for level), with the patient feeling no discomfort. Please mark July 13 th on your calendar for the monthly meeting of The Duluth Mer- chants Association… Dr. Maloof and Staff look forward to welcoming you and opening the door to THE natural approach to health care! See you there. Maloof Chiropractic Clinic is located at 1235 Pleasant Hill Road, (on the right if you're headed east), one-half mile east of Club drive next to the State Farm agency. Feel free to call us at (770) 923-1111. Park at State Farm or at the Riteway Company on either side of our clinic.

Dear DMA Members,

Thanks to Tavern on the Bridgefor their hospitality in hosting theJune meeting. The DMA membersand guests were treated to adelicious buffet and topped ofwith great cold beverages of ourchoice! Now that is hospitality. Iunderstand that each night of theweekday has a special drink…hum, sounds like the perfect spotfor a quick after hours businessmeeting. Take a moment andlook at the special insert to seewhat the weekly offerings are forthe Tavern. And thanks again forhosting DMA.

The Peggy Mitchell MemorialStars & Stripes 5K Run/ Walkwas a great success. We hadover 220 walkers and runners. Iwant to personally thank all thesponsors and volunteers thatmade the race the success it was.If you missed it this year… startyour training for next year now!

And again, I want to personallythank Jennifer Ingalls, HiltonEnterprises, for her time andtalent in bringing the race toge-ther. Jennifer had not beeninvolved in the race before thisyear; however she graciously tookon the major task of coordinatingall the details needed to pull off amajor event. And you know if youhave ever been involved in a taskof this magnitude just how muchtime and energy is needed tomake things happen. This eventis a major fundraiser for the DMA,allowing us to contribute tocommunity causes.

Duluth Fall FestivalSeptember 25 & 26,

2004The Duluth Fall Festival will behere before we know it. In its22nd year it will be our biggestFestival ever. The Co-Chairs thisyear are John Martin and CrystalHuntzinger. As it has been forthe last 21 years, all of theproceeds go back into DowntownDuluth. This year our money willprimarily go towards our debt onthe Duluth Festival Center, theAmphitheater/Pavilion on theTown Green. People from all overthe area will enjoy this complexfor many years to come. It willbe the location of the AugustMerchants Association meeting, which the Duluth Fall FestivalCommittee will be hosting, alongwith Schwan’s Foods of Norcross.

We really appreciate that theMerchants Association is going tohandle the shuttle service for thefestival again this year. Thathas been a wonderful addition tothe festival. However, to pay thebalance owed on The FestivalCenter, plus do other things forthe Downtown, we need evenmore help. Our only hope toraise enough to pay this debt off, even in several years, is throughour sponsor program. Many ofyou are already sponsors or havebeen in the past, and we allreally appreciate that, but we stillneed more of you, and urge all ofyou to consider it for this year.
