Greetings fellow gardeners! Aaaaah, summertime. Late evenings, warm rains, blooms abounding and vegetables producing. Is there anything more pleasant than sitting outside enjoying your beautiful space? Whether it's the container you bought at Superstore and managed not to kill, or a horticultural yard display you've spent years perfecting, something about growing things gives us all a sense of accomplish-ment and happiness. If you're not growing something....maybe you should start. A great place to begin would be the Garden Club. Join us for trips, crafts, movies, speakers and workshops all year round. All ages and levels of experience are enthusiastically welcomed. In June the Garden Club was busy! We made tufa pots from towels and cement. We went on a greenhouse trip around Sherwood Park and gleefully filled our van with our purchases. Then we had a BBQ where we set aside our agendas and just had some good fun and fellowship. July 17th we will announce our Container Contest winners. Kuhlmann's gift certificates are given to all the winners. As per tradition, if weather permits (and it usually does), we will tour the winning creations together. If you'd like to meet some of us and get some ideas, why not come out to the hall at 6:30 and join us for our victory tour? In August, we're having a movie night! Escape the heat and sit in the air conditioned hall, enjoy some refreshments, and learn how plants talk to each other when their roots touch. Interested? Join us at the hall August 21st at 6:30pm. A big thank you from the Garden Club to our local businesses for their donations for our plant sale in June. What a great community! Kuhlmann's, Simon's, Arrowhead, SunStar, The Root Cellar, Giant Tiger and Vissers all gave generously and we appreciate it from the bottom of our bleeding hearts (that's a lit-tle gardening joke for you). Our raffle was a huge success. We sold every single ticket. Thank you to our members who sold them and to you who purchased them. Congratulations to our winners: First Prize: Frances Bertrand (large Kuhlmann's planter) Second Prize: Kathy Murray Third Prize: Trish If you have questions about our Club, please contact Cori at 780-860-3582 via phone or text message. From all of us, to all of you, Happy Gardening!
