Before we start
• This is a first webinar out of many (see roadmap of webinars later on this session)
• Given the high number of participants, questions can be raised towards the end
• Questions can be raised using the webex chatbox
• Participants will be muted during the presentation part
• We do not have all the answers …
• But a User SWIM Community will help building more answers and accellerate the further uptake (and implementation) of SWIM

What is SWIM ?
Definition : SWIM consists of
standards, infrastructure & governance
enabling the management of ATM information
and its exchange between qualified parties
via interoperable services.”

SWIM will enable technical improvements like
cheaper design, early (or easier) adoption, etc.
These technical improvements will in their turn
enable operational improvements like better
situational awareness.
The operational improvements will contribute to
the ATM Key Performance Areas (KPA) identified
in the SESAR Programme.
SWIM enables better financial performance and
unlocks new opportunities.
By using mainstream technologies, open
formats and standardised interfaces, it is
expected to reduce the costs associated with the
development and deployment of new applications
and services.
The service standardisation will facilitate the
reuse of information in other contexts thereby
contributing to cost efficiency.
The increased interoperability of data formats
and interfaces will make possible a LEGO-like
system architecture, in which ATM systems from
different manufacturers can be seamlessly
connected, eliminating the need for expensive
tailor-made interfaces.

What is Jumpstart?
• SWIM Concept Demonstrator and Discovery tool
• Consuming many ATM data sources, and (increasing) service and data provisioning
• Using SESAR SWIM standards
• Non-operational use only
• Free of charge
• License agreement to be signed
• Different components
– Jumpstart DC (covered in this webinar)
– Jumpstart Services
– Jumpstart SWIM Technical Infrastructure 6
What is the objective of Jumpstart webinars?
• Increase the awareness of SWIM
• Accellerate the uptake of SWIM
• Further develop the SWIM user community
– Global / Transparant / Inclusive
• Fits well with other SWIM communication activities
– SESAR SWIM Master Class (www.sesarju.eu/masterclass)
– SWIM Global Demonstrations (www.swim.aero)
7
The demonstration scenario today
• ATM Information Domains covered: – Flight & Flow
– Aeronautical (airports, airspace, points, routes, DNOTAM …)
– Meteo
– Surveillance
– …
• Live demonstration and use of current (most recent) data
• Not covered in this webinar (today)
– Developer topics
– Advanced topics
– Technical Infrastructure
– …
8
NM B2B Web Services / NOP
• During this live demonstration we use a series of NM B2B web services, consuming NOP data
• NOP = database (flight, flow, aeronautical)
– Flow and capacity management
– On behalf of 41 States
• NM B2B Web Services = machine to machine interaction with NOP:
– Flight services
– Airspace services
– Flow services
– General information services
9
Live Demonstration (25 minutes)
10
SWIM Benefits / lessons learnt
• Mainstream IT Technology
• High degree of code reuse
• No (or less) vendor lock-in (hardware & software)
• High degree of implementation agnosticity… (java, .Net, cloud, private in-house, MS-Visual Studio, Eclipse… )
• Common understanding (e.g. concepts, data models, … )
Benefits related to Jumpstart
• Discovery : – Shortcut on research
– Support for business case
• Demonstration of SWIM benefits
