Pentecost Sunday
“The Advocate, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all
that I told you.” (JOHN 14:26
The materialism of our society lures us to concentrate more on what we want than on what God wants for us. The
relativism of our world tells us that we should be tolerant of all things, that there is no absolute truth. Pray to the Holy
Spirit to transform our lives and to guide our thoughts, words and actions.
Please remember the Church and school in your will.

Dear Friends:
Happy Pentecost! Today’s feast day has been called the “Birthday of the Church”—the day in which, through the
descent and indwelling of the Holy Spirit, God transformed the lives of his first disciples and created a new and enduring
community. We are, through Holy Baptism, recipients of this gift and members of his “one, holy, catholic, and apostolic
Church.”
Thank you to all who participated in the many festivities and sacramental celebrations in the Skagit Valley churches
these past several weeks: Baptisms, First Communions, Confirmations, Fr. Treacy’s 100th birthday and 75th anniversary
of ordination to the priesthood, the blessing of high school graduates, and much, much, more. These are all wonderful
reminders that the Holy Spirit is alive and active here in our Skagit Valley communities.
In Christ,
Fr. Tom

Padre Tom
