Kings Highway Christian
This last Sunday was Pentecost, the day we remember the moment when the Church truly became the Church. The Church didn’t begin when Jesus called the first disciples, and it didn’t begin when Jesus was crucified, or when He was resurrected. Though the disciples were all together and they all be-lieved in Jesus as Messiah, they needed one more important ingredient before they would become the Church, they needed God’s presence in the form of His Spirit. On Pentecost the followers of Christ received God’s presence, which burst in on them like a mighty wind. At that moment the Church was created.
Pentecost is an important reminder that the Church in general, and our church specifi-cally, is a gift from God—as are all good things. What makes it possible for different people, who worship in different ways to be one church? It’s not the skill of the minister that binds our fellowship together and it’s not the will of the congregation. The church is a miracle, only possible through God’s presence.
I hope you feel Him when you are here at church. I hope you feel Him in worship, as you sing or play an instrument, as you pray and as you receive communion. I hope you feel Him as we gather for church dinners and as we meet to plan programs. When we for-get that it’s God’s presence that makes us a church, we quit being the Church. Pentecost may be behind us now but we will continue to celebrate the presence of God’s Spirit every Sunday in all three of our worship ser-vices. It is something I look forward to every week and I hope you do too.

Stewardship Moment
I am going to try again to get the atten-tion of the Congregation on how our Children think the different Ministries of the Church are Funded. Most Children think it is very inexpensive because they seldom see donations of money or enve-lopes deposited in the weekly collections. You and I know that most Church Mem-bers make a monthly, quarterly or even yearly donation and do not even think about the weekly tithes. The very young assume wrong. Kind of like guilt by asso-ciation! As I stated in the last couple of Bulletins, please make a point of putting an envelope with a small amount of cash or check in the collection plate to show Gods Children that every donation helps.
The first week we only had a couple donations, the second week we must have had more readers. I appreciate all of you that are helping in this tithe lesson for the Children.
God Bless,
Bobby B. Shields

Blood Drive Totals
We received 15 units (which
was our goal) between the
blood drive and those donat-
ing at Lifeshare between the
last two drives. There were at
least two that gave double red
cells this time, which counts
for 2. Thank you to all who
gave, as we never know
whose life we might save.
