PLM Mobility | June 2012
Introduction
PLM is an integral part of any manufacturing enterprise’s DNA today. Needless to say that it is the fundamental repository to manage end-to-end product development information. With consistent pressure on toplines and bottomlines, quick and smarter information access and decision making ease is the order of the day.
Mobile professionals as an integral part of the product lifecycle need timely and accurate access to range of information, lack of which could deal with costly delays and errors. They need to be always wired to the activities around their product. With lean processes kicking in strong, all stakeholders can never be out of the product information loop.
Advances in wireless networking – speed, reliability and coverage, it is now feasible for the users to remain connected with the business surrounding their product.
“The enterprise mobile workforce represented 57 percent of employees in 2010 and is expected to grow to as much as 93 percent by 2015” – Forrester Research

2) Key decision makers are on travel
3) Plant Engineers and service technicians need to access product data in their non-conducive work locations such as the plant or the field
PLM End Users:
• Manufacturing/ Field Engineers
• Design Engineers
• Administrators
• Field Service/ Repair Technicians
• Management
