In the Fall of 1979, Bishop Appleyard asked him to return to the Diocese of Pittsburgh to serve St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church in Barnesboro, PA (his hometown church), and St. Luke’s Lutheran Episcopal Church in Patton, PA. While serving in PA, Brett Aaron Taylor was born on August 17, 1982, and was baptized at St. Thomas’ Church by Bishop Appleyard.  On Palm Sunday, March 24, 1985, Fr. Chuck and his family accepted a position at St. Andrew’s and St. Matthew’s churches in New Berlin and South New Berlin, NY. He celebrated his 25th year serving the parishes in 2010. In honor of his 25 years, a gift of a cruise to Alaska was given.  Seven years ago Fr. Chuck became active in the pursuit of regional ministry. Emmanuel Church in Norwich was added to the churches he served. Many church activities are now a combination of all three churches. Fr. During his ministry Fr. Chuck faithfully served not only the three churches but also the communities andsurrounding areas. He was proud to call his service to the community a “street ministry.” Fr. Chuck hasperformed innumerable marriages, funerals and baptisms for both parishioners, their families and others. Hisministry to the elderly and local nursing homes was very important to him; he loved them and they loved himin return. Fr. Chuck had a special passion for feeding the hungry and bringing the communities together. Heran the Unadilla Food Pantry housed at St. Andrew’s in New Berlin and started the free meal sponsored byarea churches known as Chit, Chat & Chew. Fr. Chuck was instrumental in starting the Emmanuel Soul

Kitchen which provides a free meal once a month at Emmanuel Church in Norwich. He spoke fondly of the

people who attended. Throughout his tenure, he served on numerous committees of the Episcopal Diocese of

Central New York. Since 2010 he has served as the Diocesan Dean of the Chenango District. In addition to his

church activities, Fr. Chuck served as chaplain of the New Berlin Fire Department and chaplain of the football

prep school Milford Academy. In the summer months he loved umpiring baseball games at Doubleday field in

Cooperstown, NY. Fr. Chuck loved what he did and the people he served.

Fr. Chuck was a beloved husband, father and granddad. His family was his pride and joy and he counted hisblessings every day. He and his wife Donna of 44 years loved music, dancing, taking long walks with hisbeloved dog Coal, and spending time at their cottage at Chenango Lake. Fr. Chuck had a passion for hunting, fishing and the shooting sports. He cherished the time he spent afield with his sons Scott and Brett, teachingthem the tools of the trade and taking in the beauty of the outdoors. He loved his bird hunts with Coal dog and

his yearly pilgrimage to western PA to deer hunt with his cousin Larry and family. Fr. Chuck’s seven year oldgranddaughter Lyla June Taylor was the apple of his eye. At a very young age she would visit shut -ins andlocal nursing home residents with her devoted granddad.

Charles G. Taylor was predeceased by his parents, Charles H. & D. Lois Taylor, infant brother, Wayne, &nephew Nicholas Paronish. He is survived by his wife Donna Taylor (Abrams), son Scott and partner BenjaminOrcutt, son Brett and fiancée Jeanette Ray, and granddaughter, Lyla June Taylor, all of New Berlin, NY. Food Pantry Needs Spring is finally here. The gardens are starting, and the number of flowers blossoming is increasing

daily. The number of people using the food pantry is also increasing. As we approach the

summer months, the need for food is greater, as soon, the children will be home for the summer. Your gen-

erosity in monetary and food contributions is, and has always been, remarkable. At this time of year, and through the summer months, please keep Our Daily Bread Food Pan-

try in your thoughts, and continue your generous donations. Canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter,

cereal, canned tuna and chicken are always in demand. If you are a gardener and have extra fresh produce,it is a wonderful addition to our menu of items. Thank you.

Blessings bestowed

When author Gary Smalley asked 100 people to share how they knew they’d received theirparents’ blessing, they offered these memories of fatherly love:

• My father put his arm around me at church and let me lay my head on his shoulder.• When my father faced a transfer at work, he purposely took another job so I could finish mysenior year in high school.• When I wrecked my parents’ car, my father’s first reaction was to hug me and let me cry in-stead of yelling at me.• My father went with me to the store when I had to return a purchase I regretted.• My father let me practice pitching to him for a long time after work.• My father cried during my wedding because he was going to miss me being at home.

Genealogy research turns up some intriguing relations; for example,Barack Obama and Sarah Palin are 10th cousins, and Britney Spearsand Prince Albert of Monaco are 17th half-cousins. In the Bible,Jesus is linked to Rahab and Ruth, members of nations that wereenemies of Israel.

Searches for family connections quickly reveal not only roots but alsoa web. Only a few generations up in the branches of each familytree are so many people that trees intersect. Scientists speculatethat most people living today are related through a recent commonancestor. So there’s a “web-like tapestry” rather than a “tree thatfans out exponentially,” according to writer Carl Zimmer.

Realizing we’re all connected should affect how we treat others. After all, we’re related topeople with diverse backgrounds and opinions. In terms of genealogy, as well as living asJesus’ disciples, we belong to one another.
