Now Introducing...Weekly Sightseeing Tour Tickets at the Front Desk!If you are interested in going to the Kennedy Space Center, swimming with the dolphins, deep sea fishing, scenic cruises, day trips to Miami, and many, many, many more wonderful hot spots, please see your Concierge in the Clubhouse for more details!

The Loving Hands & Hearts have been very BUSY hands the last few months. A few of our members made the trip over to Cornerstone Hospice & Palliative Care facility in Clermont on April 27 to deliver 14 Sensory quilts (a.k.a. “Fidget quilts or Tactile quilts) and 10 Adult Bibs we had made. These quilts and bibs will be used at the Clermont facility and shared with other Cornerstone hospice houses and in-home services within Orange, Lake, Polk & Sumter counties.

Barbara Beaumont heads up a group of busy ladies who have completed 47 Chemo hats that they plan to deliver the end of May to the US Health Cancer Center and the Florida Cancer Specialists of Orlando.

Lynne Bie and Lucille Meyers have teamed up to create Walker Totes that will attach to walkers, allowing users to carry necessary items with them as they move around. These will be donated to Cornerstone Hospice as well as other facilities in the community.

Heritage HillsLoving Hearts & Hands

Linda Smith has been spear-heading our whole-group effort to make Dress A Girl dresses for our “Francy Project”. Francy is a teacher at the American Embassy in Moscow. She will take our dresses to villages in Botswana, Africa. We expect to have 50 dresses and dolls ready to send off on May 26 when we gather once again for a “Bag & Tag” Luncheon to size the dresses and tag and bag them for shipment to Francy.

Lastly, we are starting to look forward to October and our next big Dress A Girl Project. Most of our ladies have already started making dresses (some just never stop!!). Many of the “snowbirds” who went back up North said they were taking their sewing machines with them to work on dresses. So, who knows, we may top the 200 + dresses we made last time! Fingers crossed.

Whew!! That’s enough for this month!

Please contact Judy Ricaud at352-432-5795 for all donations.

Please be sure to read factsfrom the

Resident Advisory Councilfor update information

Heritage Hills Resident and Realtor

ATTRACT REAL BUYERS, SELL QUICKLY! Your Berkshire Hathaway Home Services professional wants to sell your home quickly and at the highest price possible. Your home must be exposed to qualified buyers who are serious about finding a home. What do serious buyers look like? They’re ready to buy and show it by getting prequalified by a lender and knowing their price range. They have criteria to meet, including likes and dislikes. They have a moving date in mind. They’re represented by a real estate agent. They’ve already eliminated homes using the Internet and your home is on the short list. They can make a solid offer on the right home today. Serious buyers aren’t nosy neighbors, open house explorers, or people who can’t or won’t make a realistic offer. Serious buyers won’t waste your time because they don’t want to lose the opportunity to buy your home to another buyer. Your listing agent’s job is to network, advertise, and market to make serious buyers aware of your home. How attractive your home is to buyers is up to you. Here are five ways to help your agent attract buyers to your home.

1. Verify market prices with your agent. Price your home for today’s market reality. 2. Stage your home to best advantage. Declutter, depersonalize, clean it, paint it, and enhance curb appeal with fresh

landscaping. 3. Fix everything that’s a problem. No leaks, chips, smells. Move-in ready condition is what most buyers want. Don’t

give buyers room to argue price due to condition. 4. Do something extra for your home. Some updating, fresh paint, new appliances, or new countertops can work won-

ders.

5. Be a serious seller. Just as a serious buyer is ready to buy, show you’re ready to sell by offering your home at an attractive price, being flexible about moving dates and other terms, and making your home available for viewing with their agents.

Our goal is to meet new neighbors, go to shows, dinner or other activities and have a great time. The charge for our May event of Singin’ In the Rain was $23.20 a ticket. $1.45 was donated per ticket to Ruff Times Rescue as well as a matching donation. A group dinner was also arranged at Thai Blossom in Winter Garden.

At this time, we are planning to see Bonnie and Clyde (musical) at the Winter Garden Theater in Winter Garden, FL on September 18 for the 2 PM Sunday matinee. I will relay additional information as it is received.

October 5, the I Love New York Club will be heading to the Shakespeare Theater in Orlando to see West Side Story. The cost is $30 per person. Bunnie Friedman is handling this event. She can be reached at 407-614-3122.

Senior Matinee - West Side Story Wed, October 5, 2016, 2 - 5 PMOrlando Shakespeare Theater

812 E. Rollins St., Orlando, FL 32803 Idealistic young lovers Maria and Tony find themselves caught between rival street gangs, the Jets and the Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence, and prejudice is one of the most beautiful, heart-wrenching, and relevant musical dramas of our time. West Side Story’s legendary jazz, Latin, and classical-inspired score features the treasured songs “Maria,” “Tonight,” “I Feel Pretty,” and “America.”

Hope to see you all then. Please contact me with suggestions for events that you are interested in and I will poll our group. For anyone wishing to join our group, please send an email to me with your name, address, telephone number and email address. The subject line should read: add me to the I Love New York Club. SeniorSoftball League

Volunteer NeededThe South Lake Men’s Senior Softball League is

looking for a volunteer from Heritage Hills to recruit and manage a new softball team from Heritage Hills to join the league in the winter season. The winter season will begin the first week of November. League games will be on Monday afternoons and Thursday mornings. Players must be at least 55 years old.

The league has open batting practices at Lake Felter Park in Clermont on Fridays at 9 AM. The new Heritage Hills softball team is welcome to join these weekly batting practices.

As soon as the new Heritage Hills team is put together, practice games can be arranged for this summer and fall with other teams in the league.

The cost for your new team is minimal. There is no league fee. There is a small fee to rent a Clermont field for a season and your team will need to purchase new softballs. Your new team may also want to purchase jerseys and caps.

Your new Heritage Hills team may want 14-16 players. If you come up a little short, the league can probably find a couple players to add to your new roster.

There is also a 70+ senior softball league in which players must be at least 68 years old. This league is simply accepting new players to add to existing teams, although a new team is also welcome. The winter season also begins at the beginning of November and games will be played on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

Contact Craig at 352-988-5400for additional information.

Heritage Hills Library Your Heritage Hills Library is carefully attended to by volunteer

residents of our community. We do our best to keep the Library in an orderly and organized fashion. Since books are taken on an honor system, it is difficult to keep up with a catalog.

However, for your information, books are organized alphabetically by author. If you are seeking a particular book, you will need to find the author first. We do have space on the tables, where you can find biographies, craft, romance, books on tape and movies (these are in limited supply). You can find magazines in the bins on the side of the couch.

As you enter the library, please place books you are either donating or returning. They will be restocked by either Debbie Running, Helen Wunderlich or myself (Gail Steinberg). We thank everyone for their support and cooperation in helping to keep our library in wonderful condition.

If you have any comments or suggestions, they are welcome. You may contact me:

Gail [email protected] or phone me at (352) 708-4747.

Venetian Room in the ClubhouseJune book: Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout

What do you think? From a retired perspective, does one see the world more wisely or more foolishly? Depends, you say?

Olive Kitteridge is a retired junior high teacher. Her character links the 13 chapters or short stories that make up the book titled by her name. Olive plays more prominently in some of the tales than others. All the stories share a view of life in the fictional town of Crosby, Maine.

While the residents of Crosby wrestle with their various problems, Olive begins to more deeply understand her own life. She does it with brutal honesty. Could we do that?

Olive Kitteridge, the book, won the Pulitzer Prize and was named the best book of 2008 by almost every newspaper, magazine and journal that reviews books. Olive Kitteridge, the 4-part Emmy award winning HBO mini-series (2014), stars Frances MacDormand.

Whether you prefer short stories or novels, you’re sure to find this month’s Heritage Hills Book Club discussion fun and interesting. All are welcome!
