    Foundational Elements of

    Campus Culture:

    Ayana has improved immensely this

semester. She is smiling all the time and is

    making great choices in class.

She is kind to others and is a good friend

    to have around. Academically speaking,

Ayana has made great strides. She can

write simple sentences and is able to add

and subtract like a pro. We are delighted

to have Ayana at Wawona and her teacher

is very proud to have her in her class.

Mateo is always on task, helpful and

always making sure that he contributes

to the class through relevant discussions

and questions. During projects and as-

    signments, Mateo assists his classmates

    by revisiting instruction and pointing

students to helpful resources. Mateo is

also very enthusiastic about his education

and always shows up to class excited and

    happy to learn.

    Johale demonstrates citizenship every day!

She shines when she is learning on the car-

pet and she shines when she is working on

independent work. She is always willing to

help others and makes them feel good. Her

teachers are so proud of what Johale has

    accomplished this year.

Alexa Kirby is an example of a great stu-

dent. She works very hard to do her best

but is also willing to help her classmates to

make sure they are doing well too.

Isaiah has achieved his goal of being Stu-

dent of the Month. He is attentive in class

and is always engaging in the conversa-

tion and asking clarifying questions. He

has become the young man we all knew

    he could be.

  • Congratulations to Mrs. Cano for being a certified GATE

Teacher. Mrs. Cano went through an extensive year-long

    course that supports teachers in

    learning how to differentiate and

    accelerate learning for students as

needed. This cohort focuses on how

teachers can move students into deeper and meaningful

learning if they are already demonstrating proficiency

in a given standard or skill. Cohort members learn and

implement strategies on a monthly basis while perform-

ing ongoing book-studies and collaborating on new

ideas. We are proud to have her at Wawona assisting in

accelerating our students’ learning. Thank you!!!!

    MAY STAFF OF THE MONTH

Ms. Davis has been at Wawona for approximately 13 years

and during those 13 years, the staff and students have

fallen in love with her spirit. She is always there to help

and even brings her husband along to support. She is an

organizer, a creative thinker, and a friendly face in the

library. She will missed in our Library, but we were very

fortunate to have her part of our Wawona Family and we

wish her all the best in her retirement.
