ALL ARE WELCOME!

Are you interested in becoming Catholic, or completing your Catholic sacraments

of initiation?

Our beautiful Catholic tradition of welcoming new members called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, or RCIA, is a journey of stages that adapts to individual need and readiness. Whether you come to us with • a grounding in another faith tradition, Christian

or other; • baptism in the Catholic Church without the

completion of initiation through Confirmation and Eucharist (First Communion);

• or little or no experience at all in “organized religion”…

…we have a place for you!

Please call Ben Brzeski on our parish staff, who can provide more information. Contact him at 2626911173 x1106 or [email protected].

“A Great Gift…”

“My paint brushes are out and I’m ready for another project…” These were the words that our parishioner, artist, and friend, Chuck Weber, left me on a text message a couple of months ago. Chuck, is the artist behind some of the most beloved pieces of art here at St. Anthony’s. The young girl painting herself at our school entrance, Pope Francis in our fireplace lounge, St. Anthony being led by a little girl outside of St. Anthony Hall, and the handcarved wooden corpus/crucifix in our Weekday Mass Chapel are just a few of his incredible pieces!

Upon receiving this generous offer, I quickly thought: “I wonder if Chuck could create a piece to mark our 100th Jubilee?” He graciously accepted my request, only to struggle with what it would be. And after a meeting with our Cabinet, some creative dialogue, and a lot more texting, Chuck suggested the following:

• A handcarved wooden scroll, reflective of the Parish Covenant that we all just signed• A quill pen, representing the many signatures of our parishioners promising to God and one another, our

hope to fulfill our covenant• The four main action verbs of our newly updated Parish Mission Statement: “Live. Seek. Commit. Serve”• A large oak tree, symbolic of our 100 years as a faith community• A path through the rolling hills, reminding us of our faith journey• And a painted rising sun, beckoning us towards the promise and hope of a new day/beginning

After many hours of designing, creating, painting, carving, and “doing the math,” Chuck, along with his wife Joanne, lovingly presented the final product on June 14th. And as I saw it for the first time, I was amazed at its beauty and symbolism. Through his artistry and skill, Chuck was truly able to capture the story and vision of our parish. We will be unveiling this wondrous gift at all the Masses on the weekend of June 30th July 1st. It will be placed in front of the altar and blessed by Bishop Jeff Haines at the 4:00 Mass on June 30th. Feel free to take a closer look after all the Masses that weekend. It’s final “resting place” will be where our current Mission Statement resides, to the left of the Sacristy door in our Gathering Space, where it will serve as a constant reminder of where we have been, who we are now, and where we are going as a faith community.

Thank you, Chuck for this magnificent and beautiful gift! It truly will be treasured for generations to come!

PERU NEWS….. LAPTOPS for the Peru Trade School Padre Joe has asked if we could send some laptops down on the container we are shipping in August. If you have one in good working order that you do not need just drop it off in the parish office by August 5th.

We are prayerfully hopeful of shipping a Pickup Truck on the container as well since the couple they have down there are wearing out. If we are successful in accomplishing this we will ONLY be able to take Family to Family bins, car seats for the Physical Therapy clinic and possibly clothing which will be put into plastic bags and used to stuff the open spaces.

Family to Family sponsors watch for an email soon with details of the type bins you can fill and suggested items for them. Any questions contact Maureen in the parish office (6911173).

Scrip will be available for sale this weekend, June 23 & 24. Our fiscal year ends June 30. We will be in audit from June 30 to July 22. During the audit Scrip will not be available for purchase. Thank you for your understanding.

Centering Pray is a form of Contemplative Prayer that is as old as our Christian tradition. As Jesus taught us… “But when you pray, go into your inner room, close the door and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.” If you would like to attend or would like to discuss, please email Bob Ferkenhoff at [email protected] or phone or text at 941-350-6920. In addition, a Centering Prayer Introductory Workshop will be offered on Saturday morning, July 21 from 8:30-noon. Contact the parish office if you plan to attend.

MARRIAGE MOMENTSMARRIAGE MOMENTSMARRIAGE MOMENTSMARRIAGE MOMENTS…. …. …. …. "But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren..."(Luke 1:7) God said to Zechariah, "Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son." (Luke 1:13) Perhaps you long

Our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Betty Gaffney and Dr. Brian Yagoda. Please remember Betty and Brian and their families in your prayers. May they rest in peace.
