Nigeria-Goodnews Peter Part One

Beloved brethren, This is sending the month end report of our activities. It is the second report after Bill's visit in January. This is hoping some improvements might be made as I took time during our month end business meeting last weekend to both develop, distribute monthly report forms as well as explain to all the teachers the need to provide accurate data to enhance effectiveness in our work going forward. Thanks Bill for helping me do more in areas of personally researching to explore why we constantly had inac-curate figures in our monthly records as it affects the number of students and classes taught in our different schools all year round. I used your inputs a lot to design a format to possibly elicit the needed responses from teachers as per the number of clas-ses and students taught by each of them as well as knowing oth-er activities they got themselves involved within their congrega-tions and neighborhood. Following is the summary version. 1. Inemesit Mfon Sambo said he taught 18 classes of JSS 3 (12) and SS 2 (6) every week for the 240 of over 1,000 students population in the public school he served at. He also found time during the midweek to teach the Bible to students who expressed interest to know more about Christ during break time. This was additional to daily morning devotions he was usually assigned to conduct. In his congregation, Inemesit reported of visiting and encouraging 5 backsliders and 4 weak members as well as assist two of them financially as he discovered this made it difficult to attend church programs. Inemesit added that he conducted youth seminar for the youths, spoke at four public lectures as well as being made the moderator in one preachers forum during the month. As a result of his efforts, he had one soul restored to his congregation. 2. Ime William Akai reported of teaching 24 classes of JSS 3 (12), SS 2 (6) and SS 3 (6) every week for the 410 of 1,500 stu-dents population in the public school he served at. Ime said he also organized a weekly class session for the church of Christ students in his school who usually invited their non church of Christ class mates for the program. He expressed optimism that this effort might lead some souls to Christ. This was additional to daily morning devotions he was usually assigned to conduct. In his congregation, Ime said he conducted leadership, women and general Bible study programs weekly and was always on hand to teach these classes. He equally reported of visiting and encouraging the backsliders and sick members in their respec-tive homes. Ime also attended one conference within the month which was organized for preachers and Sunday school teachers and was used as one of the resource persons. As a result of his efforts, he baptized two souls now worshipping in his congrega-tion. 3. Francis Jacob Udoeyen said he equally taught 18 classes of JSS 3 (6), SS 1 (6) and SS 3 (6) every week for 300 of over 1,000 students population in the public school he served at. Fran-cis added that he was made the labor and sport director of his school which placed him in the position to interact with the stu-dents more than any other teacher in his school. This was addi-tional to daily morning devotions he was also usually assigned to conduct. And in his congregation, Francis said he was involved in personal evangelism, home visits as well as conducted weekly class programs for men, women, youths and a midweek class program for the entire congregation where he personally did the teachings. These efforts led to the conversion of four souls and restoration of a family of five who wandered from the faith for over a year. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________

YOUTH CORNER with Jacob Smith

Share Christ

Being in quarantine for the past few months has made it quite diffi-cult to evangelize to others. Now we are out of quarantine and even though we are still trying to keep within the social distancing guidelines, it does not mean we can’t still share our faith wherever we go. There are so many people out in the world who have never even known Christ or what He has done for them. People need to hear the truth because without it they are lost. Before He ascended to heaven, Jesus told His disciples to share His teachings with the world and baptize new believers; we ought to do the same. Howev-er, If we don’t heed the words of Christ and keep the Gospel to ourselves, we will ultimately be judged for it when judgement day comes. If we really truly believe in what the Bible says, we would not hesi-tate to share Jesus and His Word every chance we get. I don’t think any of us would want to see people go to hell and suffer eter-nal punishment. Without the Word of God, people can’t know what’s right and repent for their sins, therefore we should share it with them so they too can have a hope of heaven. So why then do we hold back on evangelizing? So many times we make excuses for not sharing Christ with others. When God asked Moses to deliver His people out of the bonds of Egypt, he made several excuses, yet God made each of his excus-es invalid. God says there is no reason for not sharing our faith with every person we come into contact with. We don’t have to be smart or rich or famous to bring the words of God to the people around us. So let every person know who God is, what He has done for you, and how proud you are to be His servant and you may just change the world. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teach-ing them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:19-20).

Continue to keep in mind:

If you’re still not yet comfortable coming to an in-person gathering, we under-stand. We want you to know that we completely respect each member’s deci-sion on when that time is right.

We also want to re-emphasize that wearing a facemask to worship is per-fectly okay. When it comes to matters of personal safety, we strongly encourage each person to take whatever measures they feel might be helpful or necessary.

In-person Bible classes will not resume until July. Until then, online Bible classes will continue.

Thanks again for all your prayers, coop-eration, and encouragement as we grad-ually make our way toward normal.

Online Resources with Dan & Keith: We have a “talk show” called "20-ish Minutes with Dan & Keith" on YouTube. Check your email or re-mind text to click on the link to go to YouTube where we will post the videos. We will be talking about, well, whatever. We'll answer questions, talk scripture, songs, maybe even sports & sto-ries.

Also, Dan has a vid-cast (online video Bible study) called “10 Minute Bible Bites.” You’ll be able to find it on the same link as Dan and Keith’s new “talk show.” Here’ how Dan describes his new vid-cast: “If you’re looking for a challenging Bible study, but you’re running a little short on time – or maybe a little short on an attention span – then this is the Bible study for you. Why don’t you plan on joining me as we start un-packing God’s Word . . . 10 minutes at a time.”

Website Directory: Please email [email protected] for directions if you have not requested access to view our church family pictorial directory. It’s a great way to keep up with newer members addresses.

Concord Road now has online giving available. Go to our church website on your computer or mobile device and click the button at the top that says "Online Giving/Contribution - Click To Give". This will take you to our giving platform called "Engage". (see screenshot of the website below)

You can give as a guest or login by using the same email you have provided for the online directory. After a few simple steps you will be registered and able to make your contribution. The Engage plat-form will eventually be used for other church events, but for now click the three lines in the upper right hand corner of your screen and select "Giving" in order to make a contribution. You can make a one-time contribution or you can set it up to be a recurring contribution.

For those using a mobile device you can create an "App" by adding the URL to your Home Screen.

Android Device:

In your Chrome Browser select the three dots in the top right of your screen next to the URL.

Choose "Add to Home Screen"
