David Wagner– President

Mother Nature has not cooperated with us this spring. Year to date, we have received over 18 inches of rain. Through some short stoppages in the rain, Gary Powers and his staff have done some amazing work and have put countless hours into making the course look beautiful. On behalf of the Board of Directors and membership, we can’t thank you enough.

I hope that you are starting to see some of the changes that are

taking place around the LCC grounds. The cart path paving projects have

continued. Later this summer, we have plans to add a permanent cart path

from tee to the top of the hill on 18. This will help alleviate doing damage to

the fairway during extremely wet conditions like this spring. There is plenty

of color being added with beds being refreshed and new flowers planted. All

of these projects will be completed via trades and with no additional cost to

membership.

Whether you have been a long time member or one of the many new

members that have just joined LCC, the way to get the best value out of the

club is to participate. For the golfers, there are plenty of events for high

(THAT’S ME) & low handicap golfers. We are trying to run more family

friendly events, and we always welcome your feedback on additional events

you would like to see. The pool just opened last weekend. I would like to

welcome Beth Kaufman on board as the Aquatics Director. She has many

new ideas that will help us utilize the pool more than we have in the past.

Keep watching Clubster and email for new event announcements.

Hope everyone’s golf season is drying out soon and with that we will

all feel a little bit better as the golf ball starts to roll a little bit further.

Best Wishes,

David Wagner

A Message from Your General Manager

Dear LCC Members:

I want to thank all of the members who have provided valuable feedback on the new

activities and events over the past month. The newly designed Couples Night Out

that includes Child Care has been a huge hit! The event hosted by Mr. & Mrs.

Jerzewski saw a large turnout of over 40 participants, and the childcare hosted 12

children! We look forward to having another great event in June. The initial “Yappy

Hour” was also well received. Although the weather was a bit uncertain, and the

temperatures were cooler than expected the lower patio showcased 6 dogs. We will

be placing this on the calendar again in June and hope to have better conditions for

more of your furry friends to enjoy the club. The team is always looking to host new

and fun events at the club, if you have any ideas or thoughts please do not hesitate

to contact us.

The pool is finally open and our Director of Aquatics, Beth Kaufman, is doing an

amazing job in her first season with us. Her enthusiasm and determination to

develop a family friendly pool experience is very prevalent. I am extremely excited

about the upcoming pool season. Please stop in and spend a few minutes with Beth.

She is truly dedicated to changing the overall culture of the pool. Also, remember to

sign up for swim team, group swim lessons and private lessons.

Lastly, I encourage you to please download the Clubster app. To date we have 225

members on the app which leaves us about halfway to reaching all members. This is

the communication hub for the club. You can locate all the information you need for

events, tee times, club hours, rules of golf changes, and so much more from the app.

If you are not a smart phone user, the desktop version is just as user friendly. Please

contact Greta Dankert at [email protected] with any questions. She is also able to

assist in downloading either version.

Sincerely,

Raymond Tugend, PGA General Manager

The Independence Day Celebration party is one of Lancaster's marquee events. The costs involved with the many fun activities, the fireworks and various food options is only made possible through sponsorship. With about 30 days left un-til the event I would kindly ask that you consider any of our multiple donation options. You and/or your business will certainly gain much recognition and return on your investment. Please contact Greta to go over any questions or to commit to one of the sponsorship options. Thank you.

Director of Food & Beverage– Kevin Roberts

My first 4 months here at LCC have been filled with excitement. My passion for Food & Beverage has taken me all over the East Coast over the past 20 years as I have always attempted to master my craft. The number one lesson I have learned professionally is that this business cannot be mastered, merely enhanced. My business philosophy is a simple one; make tomorrow better than today. I do not believe in complacency as we can always find ways to improve ourselves professionally and personally. Mistakes are going to be made in this industry such as under-staffing an event, choosing the wrong menu options, not ordering enough inventory, etc. I do not believe perfection is attainable, but that does not keep me from striving for it each and every day. So far at this club, the victories have far outweighed the shortcomings in my opinion. I have certainly made a few mistakes thus far, but I choose to focus on the improvements we have made to the F&B operations in a relatively short amount of time. The service standard here has improved great-ly and the food quality, according to most of you, has never been higher. I thank you for the posi-tive feedback and I welcome your criticisms at the same time. It is not possible to please every member every day, but I will not stop trying to achieve just that. I will continue to work hard for this club and make decisions that I believe are for the betterment of LCC as a whole. In short, I look forward to making tomorrow better than today. Play well out there.

Cheers

News from the Golf Shop

Schaefer Cup, Governor’s Cup & President’s Cup brackets and deadlines are posted in the Men’s and Ladies locker rooms. Please play your match early. All matches and round completion dates are listed. No exceptions for not completing your match by the deadline. It is preferred you play your match after 11am on weekend mornings. If you plan on playing your match on a Saturday or Sunday before 11am, you will be expected to keep up with the 4 hour pace of play in front of your match. If you fall behind, you will need to let faster groups play through.

On Saturday June 22nd the golf course, driving range, putting green and clubhouse will be closed for the M&T Bank golf outing. If you are interested in playing golf on this date, we can contact some of our reciprocal courses. Please contact the Lancaster golf shop by June 14th with the number of players in your group. Also please provide the golf shop your 3 courses in order of preference. You will then be placed into a lottery for each of the courses to determine your location. All tee times will be in the noon to 2pm range for each club. The clubs we contact are as follows: Bartlett CC, Bristol Harbor, Brook Lea, Country Club of Mendon, Clifton Springs, Gowanda, Lockport T&CC, Niagara Frontier CC, St. Catherine’s & Ridgemont CC. If you call the golf shop after June 14th, times will be on a first come, first serve basis on the remaining availability. Please do not call the reciprocal clubs directly for times as they will not be able to assist you. Please contact the LCC golf shop for further details and information.

The outside tournament season kicks off Monday June 3rd. We will have an outside party or parties each non-holiday Monday until the beginning of October. Member play will be available, but limited. Example: For a 12:30-1:00pm shotgun start you could play in the morning and just need to have the carts returned by 11am. We will then close to facilitate the outside event. The driving range will be open in the morning until 11am for Member and Employee use. The driving range will then close for the day at 2pm so our staff can hand pick the range in preparation for the Tuesday morning cut. The course will typically be available for play 5-5 1/2 hours from when the outside party tees off. So a 1pm shotgun start for outside party means the golf course will reopen in the 6:00pm-6:30pm range depending on the groups’ pace. Due to the extensive setup with Monday outings, the golf shop will be closed on Mondays. We will attempt to return calls throughout the day as time allows. Please check with the golf shop staff a day or two in advance if you plan on playing on a Monday. We will give you the event start time, if there are 1 or 2 events, and the time periods you could play, and practice if available.

Lancaster Country Club Junior Camp will begin Friday June 28th. On the 4 junior camp Fridays, the juniors will have tee times from 8am until 11am. Members’ tee times will be available before the juniors, 7am-7:51am and then after the juniors are done teeing off in the 11am area. Please keep in mind we must have you stay in order and not jump holes for the safety of the junior golfers. Most are at a younger age, just beginning and will take longer to play a hole than you may be accustomed too. If you tee off after 11am on Friday the pace will be slower than normal until the juniors complete their 3, 4 or 6 hole day. Members may use the Iron range only until after 11am. For any questions please see me in the golf shop.

Women’s Association News

Mary Ellen Puleri

President

Well Mother Nature did not do us any favors in May so I am sure she has saved all of the good weather for the months ahead!

Our Opening day stress-free golf was just that as the weather cooperated and dinner was enjoyed by all. Scott reviewed the GHIN app for posting our scores, as well as introducing many of us to a few of the new 2019 rules. This was also our annual Women’s association business meeting.

Congratulations to Lori Stilwell and Karen Miller for winning their flights in the Spring Handicap.

The Wednesday night ladies league has a great turnout and the grille room is full of chatter afterwards. The buffet selection from the kitchen has been well received. We certainly worked up an appetite the first few weeks this season as we adhered to cart path only restrictions.

These Women’s association events are right around the corner. Please make note of the starting times as listed in the flyers that follow or check out the new calendar posted in the ladies locker room.

Saturday, June 1st & 2nd – Ladies Member/Member

Friday June 14 – Couples Night Out

Tuesday, June 18th – 18 Hole Interclub at Transit Valley Country Club

Sunday June 23 – He Said/She Said Couples event

Thursday, June 27th – June Guest Day. Sail away on the Good Ship Lollipop!

July is right around the corner and these events are not to be missed:

Tuesday July 2 – 9 hole Interclub at Park CC.

Tuesday July 9th thru 11th – NYSGA Women’s Amateur Tournament

Sunday, July 28th – Ladies Summer Handicap

The saying goes “If you look good…you play good”!

Beth Kaufman– Aquatics Director

Hello! It’s a pleasure to introduce myself, my name is Elizabeth Kaufman (I also go by Beth) and I

am proud to be the new Aquatics Director of the Club. To let you know a little about me, I have

been a lifeguard/ swim instructor for 10 years working at various swim and recreational pro-

grams throughout the Western New York area; throughout my employment history most all of my

jobs have been focused working with youth in recreation and leisure based settings. I served as a

Recreation Therapist at Gateway Longview for 2 years before coming to the club and my most cur-

rent position at a young mothers foster care program. I received my Bachelors in Criminal Justice

from SUNY Brockport with a minor in Political Science; I am currently working on receiving my

Masters in Therapeutic Recreation from SUNY Canton. Engaging youth in recreational and leisure

programs is what I am passionate about; I am extremely excited to get to know all of you, your

children, and grandchildren. Please stop by the pool and introduce yourself! I look forward to

creating a safe, fun, and enjoyable summer here at the Lancaster Country Club.
