JUNE 2010 On the way to Halfway we had a wonderful visit with the Wilkinson family in South Dakota. Everyone is doing wonderful. I am so glad that Drew is now a phycologist and has a great future ahead. Hopefully a job will open up real quick. Through the Tetons we saw lots of elk, eagles, antelop, deer, fox, and really enjoyed ourselves with hardly anyone else in the park. When we drove up to our little house we were very happy to be here. There was really high water in Pine Creek and everywhere in the valley and it became the 2010, 100 year flood. We opened the house up and then went to Portland to see Preston and our friend Jack. There we partyed, went to some great “happy hour” suppers and toured with Jack. Preston turned 30 and we met his Portland friends at his birthday party. Nice folks and bike crazy. Here are some pictures of a tour Jack gave us of the Terra Cotta buildings in Portland. On the way to Halfway we had a wonderful visit with the Wilkinson family in South Dakota. Everyone is

doing wonderful. I am so glad that Drew is now a phycologist and has a great future ahead. Hopefully a job will open up real quick. Through the Tetons

we saw lots of elk, eagles, antelop, deer,

fox, and really enjoyed ourselves with hardly anyone else in the park. When we drove up to our little house we

were very happy to be here. There was really high water in Pine Creek and everywhere in the valley and it became the 2010, 100 year flood. We opened

the house up and then went to

Portland to see Preston and our friend Jack. There we partyed, went to some great “happy hour” suppers and toured

with Jack. Preston turned 30 and we met his Portland friends at his birthday party. Nice folks and bike crazy. Here are some pictures of a tour Jack gave us

of the Terra Cotta buildings in Portland.

It’s been a very fun June

WE ALSO WENT ON THE IRIS AND PEONIE TOURS WITH

JACK

While in Portland We also did some shopping for the Halfway House. We got 3 doors and a window and a kitchen sink and a

bathroom sink. These were from a place called Rebuilders which takes donations from people who are remodeling and taking out things and selling them to

people like us who are also remodeling.

We also got to meet some of Jacks friends who are an eclectic fun bunch and

Prestons friends are doing all kinds of neat things and also love to bike! At the bottom picture is Preston’s room mate

who builds carbon fiber parts for bikes. Preston is going to school and because he had a week between school sessions came to Halfway for a week. He helped us do

some serious gutting of the kitchen so that Wix could replace rotten floor joists, and put in some 4X6’s in the walls that

had very little support! But back to Portland.

We went on some hikes, bike rides and

Preston helped alot with the kitchen gutting and the remodel. They fixed the composting

toilet! We enjoyed pot lucks and eating in the

outside kitchen. Wix and I continued with the

remodel after he left.

Preston went through his things and had a ritual burning of things from his firsFirst 30 years and buried a time cap capsul.
