with lupus can have a normal preg-nancy and a healthy baby.

How do I find out if I have Lupus? No single test can show that you have lupus. Your doctor may have to run several tests and study your medical history. It may take time for the doctor to diagnose lupus.

Telling a doctor about your symp-toms and other problems you have had can help him or her understand your situation. Your history can provide clues to your disease.

The doctor will look for rashes and other signs that something is wrong.

Blood and urine may be done and samples often show if your immune system is overactive.

A biopsy, tissue that is removed by a minor surgical procedure, may be examined under a microscope. Skin or kidney tissue examined in this way can show signs of an autoim-mune disease.

What are the signs and symp-toms of Lupus? Lupus may be hard to diagnose. It's often mistaken for other diseases. For this reason, lupus has been called the "great imitator." The signs of lupus differ from person to person. Some people

have just a few signs; others have more.

Common symptoms of lupus are:

• Red rash or color change on the face, often in the shape of a butterfly across the nose and cheeks

• Painful or swollen joints

• Unexplained fever

Chest pain with deep breathing

• Swollen glands

Extreme fatigue (feeling tired all the time)

Unusual hair loss (mainly on the scalp)

• Pale or purple fingers or toes from cold or stress

backgrounds may not get signs or symptoms of the disease. Research-ers are trying to find out why.

Who gets Lupus? Anyone can get lupus. But 9 out of 10 people who have it are women. Black women are three times more likely to get lupus than white women. It's also more common in Hispanic/Latino, Asian, and American Indian women.

Both blacks and Hispanics/Latinos tend to develop lupus at a younger age and have more symptoms at diagnosis (including kidney prob-lems).

They also tend to have more severe diseases than whites. For example, black patients have more seizures and strokes, while Hispanic/Latino patients have more heart problems.

Lupus is most common in women between the ages of 15 and 44. Scientists think a woman's hormones may have something to do with getting lupus. But it's important to remember that men and older peo-ple can get it, too.

It's less common for children under age 15 to have lupus. One exception is babies born to women with lupus. These children may have heart, liver, or skin problems caused by lupus. With good care, most women

• Sensitivity to the sun

• Low blood count

• Depression, trouble thinking, and/or memory problems

Other signs of lupus are mouth sores, unexplained seizures (convulsions), "seeing things" (hallucinations), repeated miscarriages, and unexplained kid-ney problems.

cerning Lupus. It is having an impact on the population and

You can do all things!!!

The bible in Philippians 4:13 teaches that “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” The question for you (everyone and anyone) is do you believe that? That is a scripture that many have taken to heart and en-courage others with all the time. You can do all things.

Things include getting that promotion, finding that job, getting that degree you missed (high school or college), starting that business you dream about, starting that ministry God put in your heart to start, etc. There is no limit to your dreams and you can achieve

them all.

The first step is having the dream (the easy part). The second step is taking the necessary steps to make the dream a reality (hard part if you let it). That means taking a faith walk and getting on the path that God would like to see you on.

We are sure you have been told that “Home is where your heart is” and if your heart is in your dream, you will do what you need to do to accomplish that dream. Get around those individuals and organi-zations that will encourage you to hold fast to your faith and fulfill your dreams. Don’t allow others that

don’t share your passion for your dream to discourage you (dream stealers). Those things and people that come and discourage you from accomplishing your dream, rebuke them and utilize their comments to motivate your faith and encourage you to be that much more.

Hold to what the scrip-tures say regarding your life, “You can do all things through Christ which strengthens you.” Once you believe it, you can start to achieve it. Have faith in your dreams, but re-member the bible also teaches that Faith without works is DEAD!!! Get to work and make your dreams your REALITY.

Planning for Success

“People don’t plan to fail. They fail to plan.”

God uses the Church to bring about His presence, His glory, and His principles or laws. Even Satan understands this and uses these laws for his benefit. The law of the Kingdom could be compared to the laws of a country. A citizen is enti-tled and can take advantage of the laws for their benefit. This is where many Christians are confused. Since God has established His plan and His laws support it, the laws will work for the righteous and the unrighte-ous as well. The law of gravity serves His purpose for maintaining order on the planet. The laws of commerce also work to provide for movement and engagement for propagating His Kingdom. The laws of enterprise provide for the re-sources for His Kingdom. God uses everyone righteous and unrighteous to get his work done. These laws are explicit in His word, therefore the advantage the believer has in this world, if driven by the Law of Love, is that they can be more productive and they will have peace, joy, and fulfillment on the earth.

Planning is a process by which an individual or an organiza-tion can become what they are des-tined to become. Planning is the identification of opportunities and the allocation of resources. Planning is mapping your steps to making your vision a reality. Just as a mason

lays the bricks for a path, we need to lay down the steps toward our goal. Lay them in an orderly fashion so they may be followed. They should lead us to our destination. Planning accelerates us toward rapid change and productive outcomes.

Why should you plan? You would never wander into a dark forest without a light and a compass. Just as you should never begin a task without a well thought out plan. Each will lead to confusion and failure. Planning is intended to minimize crisis and risk. Everyone plans. We all make plans everyday of our lives in some form of fashion. We plan as children all the way into adulthood. Our plan may become more organized and involved as we progress in maturity, but every stage of life involves planning on some level. Where some plans are tedious and mundane others can be amazing and life changing. Throughout his-tory many of the most influential individuals have been excellent planners.

Moses – Who led millions through the desert.

Martin Luther King Jr. – Whose one dream provoked thousands to take action.

Hitler – His actions, although hor-rible were very precisely planned out.

Bill Gates – Who transformed technology throughout the world.

We plan by looking into the future and determining how to get there. You must first figure out where it is you want to be and the “work” backward to achieve it. The three things you must know before you begin to plan are:

1. Your starting point (where you are right now).

2. Your ending point (the vision).

3. Your purpose (why do you want to go from start to the end?)

The Four P’s that are essential elements of planning:

Purpose – The why we are doing the planning, why do we want to go from start to finish.

Plan – Our “mission”, the action we take, steps to take us from start to finish.

People – To carry out the action, to take the steps.

Power – Authority, God gives us the motivation or the energy to complete our path.

People avoid planning for many different reasons. Each situa-tion brings about different hardships in the way of planning. We should always strive to overcome these obstacles in the interest of the larger goal. Here are some of the reasons people choose to dive straight in rather than planning.

1. Planning takes time.
