    As a young team the Jackrabbit soball team is not

    inching while going head on with elite teams rom acrossthe nation. In their recent game against IUPUI, the Jacks pound

    out nine hits, including a two-run homeroun rom ina Winter,

    earn a 6-4 win!

    the bottom o the frst with a solo shot over the center feld ence

    Pitcher Pam Nicholson recovered and struck out the next batter.However, an injury prevent Nicholson rom continuing and was

    replaced with Kori Seidlitz.

    Troughout the game it was a back and orth battle

    until SDSU tied the game with an unearned run in th

    sixth, and then went up or good in the seventh capi

    izing on a pair o IUPUI miscues to score two runs o

    two hits to go up 6-4.

    With the season only beginning, the Jackrabbit baseball team have raised the bar a

    re meeting the challenges. Te Jackrabbit baseball team, now 20-10 on the season

    -1 in the Summit League standings, swept the Centenary Gents in a slugest on Ap

    7th.

    DSU outscored the Gents, 20-6 , rom the sixth inning on in the our-game set. T

    Gents started swinging early and scored in fve o the

    six innings to gain a 10-6 lead beore SDSU started itscomeback. Billy Stitz tripled with one out and scored

    a base hit by Joel Blake. Zach Rhodes then stepped

    the plate and hit a two-run home run to right fe

    game to start the bottom o the eighth and

    worked around two hits in the eighth to record his thirdo the series and fh o the season. In the end o the day

    Jacks kept their bats hot and ended the game 13-10.

    Te SDSU womens gol team fred a fnal-round score o 325,

    combined with a frst-round score o 339 to capture their frst D

    tournament at the Creighton Classic.

    Freshman Katie Purcell blazed the way with a second place fni

    o 161 (85-76). Brittany Hanten fnished tied or fh aer card

    ing a 166 (83-83). Rachel Hanigan registered a 169 (83-86) and

    fnished tied or 10th. Morgan Fitts tallied a 171 (88-83) and f

    ished tied or 14th. Abby Feehan shot a 172 (89-83) and fnishe

    tied or 16th, the frst top 25-fnish o her career!

    Tis was the frst time since October 2008 that all fve SDSU gol

    ers fnished in the top 25.

    How did you start:I started golng when I was about eight. Since my dadloves the game and would always take me out with him.

    Favorite course: Ocotillo Golf Course in Chandler, AZ

    Highlight of SDSU career:Holing out from 100 yards for eagle on the par 5#18 at Ocotillo Golf Course my sophomore year.

    Nicknames: Bit-Be, BeeBo, Giga Pet

    Major:Im a junior mathematics major. I want to be a high school teacher.

    Best part of Jackrabbit Golf: Teammates!

    Favorite club:It always changes, but right now it is my 56degree Titleist Vokey Wedge.

    Lowest score:At the Jackrabbit Invitational I shot a 74, 75, and 76.

    Favorite movie:Elf. It just gets funnier every time!!

    What would be your super power:I wish I could y!

    Hidden talent:I was in dance classes for 10 years, so I can do ballet, tap, and jazz dancing. Tap was my favorite!

    Enjoy every minute of playing sports. Dont worry about

    the little stuff and just play for you, play for fun.

    Marshall Kambestad turned in a 5,000-meter win with a

    time o 14 minutes and 49.35 seconds at the Caliornia State

    wilight in LA.

    On the womens side, Heather Wollman dominated her 200 meters wa time o 24.90 at the Mizzou Relays. Tis time is only 0.69 seconds

    rom her school record!

    Tese men and women are the stongest o the bunch and know how

    throw around the competition!

    Brooke Garner broke the SDSU womens hammer throwwith a massive toss o 187 eet and 11 inches! She did t

    on her own South Dakota tur at the South Dakota/No

    Dakota Double Duel in Yankton, S.D.

    Te men are also making their marks in the feld events. Sam Mc

    Inerney and Arran Davis hurled the javelin into a second and third

    place fnish at the Vance Butler Invitational in Sioux Falls, S.D. Mc

    erneys recorded a mark o 178-06, while Davis notched 177-07.

    Te jumpers seem to have the super power o ying with their acro-

    batic skills!

    Ben Jasinski jumped to a 13th place at the Mt. San Antonio College

    Relays in Walnut, Caliornia. Even though he jumped o six eet 6.7

    inches, it still did not compare to his earlier recorded breaking jump

    7-00.50.

    For the women, Ashley Lange is leading the pack

    by placing extremely well in the triple jump. At

    the Jim Duncan Invitational in Des Moines, IA,

    she vaulted to second-place with a leap o 37-2.50.
