Working and learning through the daily frustrations and challenges COVID-19 presented this year, has been a defining time for us all. For excellence to thrive and success to be achieved, the All Souls St Gabriels School community once again came together and continued to provide our students with inspiring learning and extra-curricular opportunities.
I would like to sincerely thank teachers, support and ancillary staff, who have all worked together to deliver a year of excellent education and care for our students. All Souls St Gabriels School is more than just a place of teaching and learning. By fostering a sense of curiosity and respect, All Souls St Gabriels is a place where students experience wonder and joy and have had many opportunities to become confident, thoughtful young people.
I would like to acknowledge our students for their achievements throughout this year. We have appreciated their strengths, talents and involvement in the many and varied activities we have shared. Our students’ learning has flourished as they have grown in mind, body and spirit.
Thank you parents and guardians. Although 2020 has been a challenging year for us all, your support has helped make our School a wonderful place of learning, friendship and family.
As the year comes to a close, I wish the Year 6 students all the very best as they move into the next phase of their education in the Secondary School. Each of them has the potential to have an impact, and make positive choices to better their community. We will miss their cheerful faces, and the support they have given to the younger students in the Junior School.

Junior School Captains’ Speech
All Souls St Gabriels School Awards Day 2020
Anna Dunn and Lincoln Coleman
Good morning members of the Board, Mr Fleming, special guests, teachers, parents, friends and stu-
dents. My name is Anna Dunn and joining me this morning is Lincoln Coleman.
We are proud to have been the Junior School Captains for 2020. On behalf of our classmates we are
honoured to have the privilege of speaking before you today.
All Souls St Gabriels School has faced many challenges since its foundation 100 years ago, and this year
has been no exception.
Although we have been unable to participate in many of the sporting, cultural and community activities
that we usually enjoy during the school year, we have become more connected with our families
(especially during home learning), and have appreciated the opportunities we have shared together this
year.
We are very pleased to have our families come along to the Inter-House Cross Country, Athletics and
Swimming Carnivals, and are also thankful for the opportunity to compete against other local schools in
Athletics and Swimming.
The Arts plays an important role in the culture of our School, and we were very excited to showcase our
talents at the recent Arts Extravaganza.
Our disappointment of not being able to travel to Canberra, was replaced with an awesome trip to
Mungalli Falls (or Mongolia as Lincoln referred to it). As the Junior School leaders, our class was chal-
lenged with lots of team-building activities and had loads of fun. We really enjoyed our trip to the Great
Barrier Reef, looking at the various corals and seeing two green sea turtles as well as watching our
classmates doing backflips down the landslide into the pond.
Anna and I have been attending this school since 2013. We have experienced many teachers coming
and going and changing their roles, such as Miss Browne (or should I say Mrs Nicholls) was our teacher
in Year 2 and for the last 3 years has been inspiring in HPE.
On behalf of the Junior School students we would like to thank our teachers and all the ancillary staff.
You have all had an important role in preparing us for the next stage of our education. As the senior
class in the Junior School, we have grown and thrived together. We have learnt not to take anything for
granted. We have been challenged, (as we, at times, probably challenged you), but you have always
believed in us, and encouraged us to do our best. Throughout the 8 years of our primary school educa-
tion, you have reminded us what it means to be a good person, to always be respectful, resilient and
kind. On behalf of all the Junior School students, we would like to thank our families for choosing to
send us to All Souls St Gabriels School.
Anna and I are look forward to starting our Secondary School education, and ask the Year 5 students to
continue to uphold the core values of our exceptional school.
