The Kirsty Ashley who is alive and well said: ‘‘I’ve had family and friends calling. I’ve had at least 15 phone calls just checking how I am. ‘‘I heard about it the day it happened; I got a phone call straight away.’’ Kirsty Ashley was married to David Ashley, the brother of Darren Ashley, who is the husband of the vic- tim. A 46-year-old man was taken into police custody on Tuesday afternoon in relation to the other Kirsty Ashley’s death. Neighbours of the Lovegrove Drive resi- dence noted that a rear flyscreen and window had been removed, but police are yet to com- ment on the possibility of forced entry. The woman’s body was removed from the rear entrance of the house early on Wednes- day morning. A police and forensics visit to a residence on Spicer Crescent is thought to be con- nected. Police have also been investigating the property of the dead woman’s husband, on Lillecrapp Road, Ilparpa, southwest of Alice Springs. One resident said up to seven police cars ar- rived at the property ‘‘en masse’’ on Tuesday morning to conduct for- ensic investigations. Resident and former property owner of the lot, Ian McLiesh, said a letter from NT Police, left in his post-box, said the police were ‘‘con- ducting doorknocks in your area in relation to a homicide investi- gation that occurred on Tuesday 15th of May, 2012.’’ Two police detectives at Ilparpa yesterday told the Centralian Ad- vocate they were con- ducting ‘‘ongoing foren- sic investigations’’, with two forensic officers and at least five Fire and Rescue officers on- site.
