*There’s no ticket to purchase, no juggling of your holiday party rounds, no babysitters to hire, no traffic to avoid!

Instead, the West Coast Friends of SCHR invite you to plant a seed for justice and join us in solidarity with the lawyers, investigators and other staff members of the Southern Center for Human Rights. Your generous contribution will go directly to support the work of SCHR in its fight for the rights and lives of clients in the South.

In 2011, the world witnessed the injustices and brutality of the Georgia criminal justice system with the execution of Troy Davis, the illegal importation of drugs used in the death penalty, the proliferation of modern day debtors’ prisons, and so much more.

By participating in Justice Taking Root San Francisco you honor and celebrate the work of the Southern Center for Human Rights.

So, plant a seed by making as generous a contribution as you can muster. With your support, we hope to raise $35,000 by December 31st – enough to sustain the annual salary of one of SCHR’s young attorneys.

RSVP by December 31, 2011

The Southern Center for Human Rights is a nonprofit public interest organization which provides legal representation to people facing the death penalty, challenges human rights violations in prisons and jails, seeks through litigation and advocacy to improve legal representation for poor people accused of crimes, and advocates for criminal justice system reforms in the southern United States. To carry on its work, SCHR depends on the generous support of individuals, foundations and businesses, and receives no government funding.

This year’s event is a little different . . .
