Jay Davidson’s funk cannot be contained. His multi-faceted mu-sical prowess combined with his decades of experience with
industry legends has turned him into an in-demand session player & band member.
This year alone, he’s playing six instruments on tour with Brit Floyd - a top-shelf Pink Floyd tribute act. When off the road, he
provides the keys and saxophone, as well as work behind the board, for Swift Technique, a funk band out of Philly, quickly
growing in popularity with a recent placement on Netflix’s hit series, Orange Is The New Black.
Since the 80s, Jay has played stadiums for crowds most musi-cians only dream of seeing. He played sax & keys for Whitney Houston, Cinderella, Taj Mahal, Steve Winwood, Billy Preston,
Phoebe Snow, Joan Osborne, Bobby Caldwell, Levon Helm, Maxi Priest, Sly & Robbie, and Monty Alexander, to name a few.
These days, the Jay Davidson brand envelops three main branches: session/band player, producer/arranger, and solo
artist. As Jason David Steel - the Funk Detective - Jay creates original music with his band, BuddaDadda, and is simultaneously
working on a Jazz project of his own.
Next on the horizon, Jay has set his sights on contributing his musical talent as a regular on late-night television. If his journey thus far is any indication, Jay will reach his destination, bringing
the funk every step of the way.
