• Did his primary education till 8th standard at Vadakara LP school
• After 8th standard he discontinued schooling due to optical problems
• Joined painting course after some period• Was extremely passionate about painting,
volleyball and swimming
Early political life
• Joined Flood relief camp in 1937 with VR Krishna Ezhuthachan , RM manakkalath and C Achutha Menon
• Joined INC and then became a full time political worker at the age of 19
• Started a small union under INC for rubber workers which later became INCTU( Indian National Trade Union Congress)

• Legislative member in Cochin before Independence in District Congress Committee (DCC)
• MLA ( Member of legislative Assembly) 9 Times 1960,1965,1967,1970,1977,1980,1982,1987,1991
