Release screws (1) on wheel arch cover (2) on left/right.Lift out wheel arch cover (2) at side.Installation note:Make sure wheel arch cover (2) is in correct position.

Pull bumper panel (2) forwards a little.Unlock and detach plug connections on the following components depending on the version.

If necessary, unlock and detach hose pipe for headlight cleaning system and lay down on top.Remove bumper panel (2) towards front.

- Ultrasonic sensors PDC (right wiring harness)

- Pedestrian protection sensor (right and right wiring harness)

- Ultrasonic sensors for parking manoeuvring assistant (left/right)

- Fog light (left/right)

- ACC sensor (middle)

- Side View Camera (left/right)

Version with M Aerodynamics package:Unfasten mount (1) from catch (2).Remove bumper trim panel forwards.

Replace condenser for air conditioning.

Necessary preliminary work:Drawing off, evacuating and filling the A/C systemare not included in the time value given for this work operationRemove drive belt for alternatorRemove left charge air duct

Important!Seal openings or lines on compressor with special tool 32 1 270 to prevent escape of media and dirt contamination.

Release screw (1) from below.Tightening torque 64 52 3AZ.

Release screws (4) and remove refrigerant lines (3).Tightening torque 64 52 1AZ.Unfasten plug connection (2) and disconnect.Note:Secure compressor (1) against falling out.

Release screws (5).Tightening torque 64 52 3AZ.Feed out compressor (1) in upward direction.Installation note:

Unlock the left and right pressure pipes on the charge air cooler, pull them off and then set them aside.Release screws (1).Tightening torque 17 10 3AZ.Detach the charge air cooler from the left and right of the module carrier (2).Remove charge air cooler (3) towards bottom.

Check gaskets (1) and (2) on the charge air cooler and replace damaged gaskets.

Installation note:When installing the charge air cooler, make sure that the sealing lip (1) of the charge air cooler is installed above the sealing lip (2) of the bumper panel. If applicable, mount the sealing lips with a screwdriver (3).

Reassemble the vehicle.

PRELIMINARY WORK

1–Removing intake silencer housing

• Unlock connector (1) on hot film air mass meter and pull off.

• Unfasten clamp (2).

• Unclip Bowden cable (3) from intake silencer housing.

• Pull off intake silencer housing (4) upward out of rubber mounts (5)and remove.

• Unfasten clamp (1).

• Pull off pressure hose (2) in direction of arrow.

• Loosen the lock (1).

• Pull off pressure hose (2) in direction of arrow.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Make sure that the connections are locked correctly. The locks must engage audibly.

• Mount charge air line (2) in direction of arrow onto the charge air cooler.

The lock (1) must audibly engage.

• Mount charge air line (2) in direction of arrow.
