PROGRAM IDENTIFICATION

This manual describes the characteristics of the standard UG30 and mP30 control for conditioners.

The software version can be read by repeatedly pressing key until your reach the "Hr" parameter; this information must be supplied to the technical service centres when they are called in for a job.

Version Parameter

1.6 Hr The setting of some parameters on a special unit version may differ from those described in this manual.

WARNINGS

Do not install the controls in places with the following characteristics: - relative humidity above 80%; - exposed to aggressive and polluting atmospheres (e.g.: sulphur or ammonia gasses, salt mists, fumes) to avoid corrosion and/or oxidation; - high magnetic and/or radio frequency interference (therefore, avoid installing units near transmitter aerials);

Cut power before beginning work on the circuit in the case of assembly, maintenance or replacement jobs.

In general, all the instructions found in the unit’s Installation, Use and Maintenance Manual apply. WARNING: In direct expansion air-conditioners with a three-phase power supply, the controller's power may be cut if the phase sequence relay (RSF) is tripped.

CHARACTERISTICS

UG30/mP30 is an electronic control for full management of precision air conditioners, for both chilled water (CW-CW/S) and direct expansion (DX-DX/S) versions with 1 or 2 compressors. The control consists of a user interface and a power circuit, both fitted inside a single container. The display shows the unit’s operating status and main parameters by means of symbols and alphanumeric codes consisting of one letter and one number:

1, 2…: probe parameters; r1, r2 …: adjustment parameters (e.g. r1 = cooling set-point); c9, CA…: compressor management parameters; F9, FA…: fan management parameters; P1, P2…: alarm management parameters; H1, H2…: general configuration parameters.

All control parameters are set in the factory according to the type of unit and configuration; programming is effected by a hardware key or via a serial line. To change parameters, the operator may use the keyboard on the front panel. USER or FACTORY parameters are available depending on whether they are accessible to the user or reserved for authorised personnel. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

By using parameter C, you can select a temperature measurement unit. As this parameter varies, the UG30/mP30 control automatically converts all the configuration parameters (set-point, differentials, etc….). The measurement unit being used is constantly shown on the display. Note: If the Centigrade to Fahrenheit (and vice-versa) changeover is effected by the supervisor, the parameters are not converted (all that changes is the value read by the temperature sensors and the symbol on the display).

HARDWARE CONFIGURATION The units control programme must be adapted to the unit in which it is installed and therefore it must be “configured”. During this phase it is important to define all the elements that are part of the unit and that the Microprocessor will have to control. OPERATING HOUR-COUNTER

The UG30/mP30 control displays the operating hours of the units main components. By using the “hour-counter threshold” parameters, the maintenance intervals for each component can be established. When the device in question exceeds the indicated value, the processor signals the maintenance request by activating an alarm signal and showing the symbol in the top right corner of the display. MAINTENANCE OF HUMIDIFIER CYLINDER

The control does not measure the humidifier operating hours, however, lime scales must be periodically cleaned off the steam cylinder. Excessive lime scales can cause malfunctions or an alarm signal by the humidifier interface circuit. Before the cylinder is removed for replacement or cleaning, water must be thoroughly drained from the boiler. This command is not given directly by the UG30/mP30 control, but by the CDA303 circuit.

Note: To prevent tripping of the differential on the distribution panel, dip-switch N°7 is turned ON: In this way, the CU contactor is de-energised during discharge and, as a result, there is no current dispersion.

To open the solenoid discharge valve and empty the cylinder, you must switch the “MANUAL DRAINING” jumper contacts on the CP1 card from GND-ON (automatic) to GND-DR (manual).

Attention: electronic components are sensitive to static charges emitted by the human body. Touch a grounding facility before handling any electronic component. - Open the humidifier thermal breaker; - Clean or replace the cylinder; - After cleaning or replacing the cylinder, re-position the component and restore normal humidifier operation.

CONNECTING MORE THAN ONE UNIT It is possible to electronically connect up to 6 units on the same local network connection, where 5 units run in normal operation and 1 unit in stand-by. In order to distribute the work load an automatic unit rotation is managed, it works on a temporal base at programmable time intervals (FACTORY H4 parameter). When necessary 1 of the units is turned off and the unit in stand-by is activated. The rotation follows the progressive order of the addresses set (FACTORY H3 parameter). If an Alarm event occurs on one of the units connected the control automatically activates the unit in Stand-by (serious alarms are specified in the section entitled "DESCRIPTION OF ALARM CODES"). IMPORTANT: the Units are electrically connected using digital output DO7 and digital input ID5 (see electric drawings), therefore the connection can not be made in the following cases: - for units that are already using the digital output DO7 for the dehumidification electrovalve(CW-DX air-conditioners) or for reporting of a non-serious alarm status (CW/S-DX/S air-conditioners). - for units that are already using the digital in put ID5 for the connection of optional digital sensors (high/low temperature/humidity sensors, water leak detector). DELAYS DUE TO ALARM SIGNALS

Some alarm signals can be delayed with respect to the activation of a component to allow stable operating conditions to be reached – for example: Alarm A:FL (airflow absent or presence of fire-smoke) is not read during the first 30 seconds after fan start; this

value is linked to the FACTORY P1 parameter. Alarms LO:C1 and LO:C2 (1/2 circuit low pressure) are not read during the first 180 seconds after start-up of

the relevant compressor. This value is linked to the FACTORY parameter P3. ALAR ALARM Minimu

SERIOUS ALARMS

Two different types of alarm warnings are available: "serious " and "non-serious" alarms (see section "DESCRIPTION OF ALARM CODES "). In a configuration with more than one unit connected, serious alarms trigger the activation of the DO7 relay and therefore the activation of the unit in stand-by. In a configuration with no unit rotation, the FACTORY parameters HA and HF can be changed, in such a way as to have two different alarm signals: - "serious alarms" through the general alarm relay DO6; - "non-serious alarms" through the dehumidification relay DO7 (CW/S and DX/S only). ACTIVE ALARMS When an alarm occurs, the control performs the following actions:

• displays the symbol and the alarm code; • de-energize the DO6 relay (general alarm); the relays functioning logic, normally energised

or de-energised, and the alarm category that activates this relay is set by the HF parameter (default equals 0);

• (in AMICO CW/S and DX/S units, if HA is set to 2) relay D07 de-energised (non-serious alarm); relay logic, normally energised or de-energised, is defined by parameter HF (default setting is 0);

• lights up the red light of key ; • activates the buzzer (if the USER P4 parameter is set at a value other than zero).

ALARM CODES DESCRIPTION All possible alarm codes are listed below. All alarms, except the clock alarm, are read only with the UNIT ON. Code Description Restart Alarm type C L o C Clock alarm. Manual Non-serious S P : A External general alarm. - Serious

CLoC: clock alarm faulty An alarm generated by a malfunctioning clock card. It causes an interruption of the hour-bands and the regulator goes into ON status even if it is commanded to OFF by the current band. This event does not shut down the alarms historic record function, which continues recording the signals, but with incorrect time values. SP:A external general alarm Alarm configurable with parameters Pb and PC. TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY LIMITS EXCEEDED These are signal-only alarms linked to an excess in the set temperature and humidity levels. Code Description Restart Alarm type H I : R H High room humidity alarm. Automatic Non-serious L O : R H Low room humidity alarm. Automatic Non-serious H I : R t High room temperature alarm. Automatic Serious L O : R t Low room temperature alarm. Automatic Non-serious

The thresholds are defined by FACTORY parameters P6, P7, P8, P9 according to the following diagrams. They are ignored during UNIT start-up for a time period equal to the PA parameter (see paragraph “DELAYS DUE TO ALARM SIGNALLING”). The alarm is tripped if the set threshold is exceeded for at least one minute.

FUNCTIONAL ALARMS Code Description Restart Alarm type A : F L Airflow alarm or Fire /smoke detector alarm Manual Serious C L : F i Air filter obstructed. Manual Serious C o : F A Cooling function alarm. Manual Serious C t : H Compressor/s thermal breaker alarm. Manual Serious F t : H Fan/s thermal breaker alarm. Manual Serious H E : O H Electrical heating elements overheating. Manual Non-serious H P : C 1 - H P : C 2 Compressor 1./2. high pressure. Manual Serious H U : F A Humidifier alarm. L P : C 1 - L P : C 2 Compressor 1./2. low pressure. (***) Serious

A:FL Airflow alarm or optional Fire/smoke detector alarm The alarm can be delayed by parameters P1 and P2 and causes all devices to switch off immediately. CI:F1 dirty filter Signal only alarm. To reset it, reset the filter hour-counter (USER parameter Fc). CO:FA: delivery (or cooling function) high temperature alarm It is read by the B4 delivery temperature sensor when the cooling function is active, but the difference between the delivery air temperature and room temperature is lower than the value defined by the Pd parameter (default 3°C). The alarm has a fixed delay set at 4 minutes and is tripped only if the cold actuators are ON (at least one compressor ON or refrigerated water valve open by more than 50%) and the hot actuators are OFF. When this alarm is noted, it shuts down only the compressor that is ON (running at that moment) , while the second compressor remains enabled. Ct:H compressor thermal breaker alarm Causes instantaneous shut-down of the compressor. Ff:H fan thermal breaker alarm Causes instantaneous shut-down of all devices. HE:OH heating elements thermal breaker alarm Causes instantaneous shut-down of the heating elements. HP:C1-HP:C2 circuit 1 or 2 high pressure Causes immediate shut-down of the compressor without respecting the relevant times. HU:FA humidifier alarm Alarm delayed by 30 seconds. This is detected by the CDA3403 card and is transmitted to the UG30 control which disables the U1 humidifier output. LP:C1-LP:C2 circuit 1 or 2 low pressure This alarm is detected only if the compressor is ON and is ignored during the first 180 seconds from compressors start. It causes immediate shut-down of the compressor without respecting the relevant times.

SE:1F room temperature sensor fault. Alarm delayed by 1 minute from the moment when the UNIT is turned ON and from when the error is detected. When the error is detected, all components, except the fan, are turned OFF, respecting the configured times with the exception of fan time. SE:2F external air sensor fault. Alarm delayed by 1 minute from the moment when the UNIT is turned ON and from when the error is detected. When the error is detected, all functions (summer/winter switch-over) associated with the sensor are disabled. SE:3F humidity sensor. Alarm activates when the sensor is disconnected (if the input is configured as 4÷20mA) and for currents that are lower than 3 mA or above 23 mA. Alarm delayed by 1 minute from the moment when the UNIT is turned ON and from when the error is detected. When the error is detected, all functions associated with the sensor (humidification, dehumidification) are disabled SE:4F delivery air temperature sensor. Alarm delayed by 1 minute from the moment when the UNIT is turned ON and from when the error is detected. When the error is detected, all functions associated with the sensor (CO:FA alarm management) are disabled.
