KADIKOY- STITCHING Wandering in our studied area we saw two main urban qualities in it.First of all, this place is very well situated. It is located by the seaside which is evolving very fast. It is a central place in a central area of Istanbul. From there, you are very well connected to the whole city, with transportation network: bus, metro bus, main road, ferries, dolmus...In the same time, the area is doted with one important public infrastructure: the stadium. Around it, you can find a lot of elements which, if they were join together, could give the area a considerable betterment. The most important and non exploited is the canal. Nowadays it is just a stank but it could become a very valuable element of the neighbourhood. Beside, via this canal, the area is connected to two green spaces : one, along the seaside, works already very well, as a very good envelope for the residential buildings which lay in it. The second one, stuck between the main road and the metro bus bridge tries to survive. For us, it appears very important to extend all the potentials of the park located bear the seaside to the all area. This park is a welcoming place, where practising urban sport becomes possible. For us, sport could be the new identity of the whole neighbourhood ; the main idea of our stitching work. For doing it we see different ways. First it must be able to give the public of the stadium the welcome it deserves and turn into a welcoming space where you want to stay after the big sport events. Today, the surroundings of the stadium make a dangerous place, where walking in group, like supporters usually do, becomes a very dangerous sport. Besides, it already exist a lot of sport equipments in the whole area or place which have a lot of

potential in becoming it : there are tennis courts, bicycle ways, jogging places, sailing centre, a private fitness club, a swimming pool... All these elements are not connected. For us, working on the area could begin with the creation of an interaction between them and, by doing it, remodulate the whole area little by little to give it a new visibility as the sport area of Istanbul. Moreover we think that there is a lot to do with the cars and the circulation ways. We would also like to work on the relationship which must exist between this kind of stadium and park cars. This could also change the fate of the area's estate which seems half doomed today. By resolving this, we think that the neighbourhood could at least turn in what its geographical situation makes of him : a central and necessary area of the city. Romina Naydenova-Marion Denis
