Over the past 15 years, Kaiser Permanente employees have volunteered hundreds of hours at Colorado nonprofits as part of our Martin Luther King, Jr., Day of Service. 1992 The Kaiser Permanente Colorado Research Department, now known as the Institute for Health Research (IHR), is established. 1997 1999 Our first electronic health record, ClS (Clinical Information System), launches. 2000 The IHR creates a clinical trials program primarily focused on HIV and oncology. 2001 Kaiser Permanente surgeons complete the first successful separation of conjoined twins in Colorado. 2002 The IHR begins providing cancer data to the State of Colorado. We implement smoke-free campuses throughout Colorado. We launch our annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Day of Service. 2004 2007 We become a founding partner of LiveWell Colorado, which leads to us joining forces with HEAL Cities (2008), Hunger Free Colorado (2009) and Weigh & Win (2010). 2008 2010 Our private and Medicare health plans are ranked number one in Colorado by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). 2012 We help sponsor the HBO documentary film, Weight of the Nation, and lead community screenings, panel discussions and health fairs related to eliminating the country’s obesity crisis. 2016 Our commitment to the environment is recognized by Greenhealth and the Clean Energy Means Business Corporate Summit. 2017 We’re celebrated as a BCA 10: Best Businesses Partnering with the Arts in America honoree by the Americans for the Arts. As part of the Find Your Words campaign, we commit $1.5 million to fund mental health programs and staff in Colorado schools and lead artists in the production of three mental health murals.
