MAR. 2012 – JUNE 2012 The Kitsap Sun - Editorial Intern Reported an average of four stories a week for publication in a regional newspaper with a circulation of about 28,000. Covered a variety of topics, in- cluding business, education and crime. Wrote features and hard news stories and contributed to the weekly arts and entertainment section. DEC. 2011 – MAR. 2012 The Daily Northwestern - Development Editor Recruited new staffers for reporting and multimedia capacities. Trained and edited new reporters, both with and without previous journalism expe- rience. Created a training guide. SEPT. 2011 – DEC. 2011 The Daily Northwestern - Campus Editor Assigned and edited stories for pub- lication in the daily newspaper. The campus desk covers all news relating to students’ activities on campus, as well as University affairs. Organized desk meetings, participated in editorial dis- cussions and reported on a variety of campus issues. AUG. 2011 – MAR. 2012 Northwestern Magazine - Editorial/Photography Intern Wrote and fact-checked stories on Uni- versity and alumni news for Northwest- ern University’s quarterly alumni maga- zine. DEC. 2010 Refugee Lives - Reporter Traveled to Otjiwarongo, Namibia, to document refugee conditions as part of a team that spent two days in Osire refu- gee camp and four days in surrounding Namibia writing, photographing and producing over 40 stories, available at www.refugeelives.org.
