Year 6

farewell

Denise King - Principal

Welcome back to Term 4

Tuesday: The term has commenced in a

flurry of activity with Glenn McGrath visiting

NPS. The students happily celebrated a

second Pink Stumps Day in order for the

media team to collect footage that will be

used in the upcoming cricket season telecasts. The children

spent time actively researching Glenn and the McGrath

Foundation before participating in a mock-up cricket game at

Peyton Park. Pink was everywhere! The children dressed in

pink, the bats, balls and stumps were all pink and the ladies

from the McGrath Foundation gave out pink bandannas and

pink blow-up stumps to the students and spectators.

Everyone had a fun day, sharing in the positive energy of the

McGrath Foundation and Pink Stumps.

Wednesday: Royal fever spread across our school on Wednesday the 17

October with the arrival of Prince Harry and Meghan in Dubbo. Students who

had their names randomly pulled from a hat at a morning assembly last term

attended a roadside wave as the Royal Highnesses’ whizzed passed in their

motorcade. The day was incredibly exciting and hopefully something that the

children will remember as a very cool opportunity.

Friday: Our whole school assembly was thoroughly entertained as the

Tournament of the Minds students shared their performance with our school.

This activity is completely student driven with staff assisting in a mentoring

capacity. The exceptional quality of the concepts, the polished delivery and the immense confidence of the students

themselves is a true testament to the educational value that is added to, by and for students at NPS. And that was

just week one!!!!!!

Term Four is a term that traditionally is actioned packed so please pay particular attention to the calendar that is

included in Kalori, information on the school app and as the activities appear on the notice board for upcoming

1S Welcome Prac Teacher –Stephanie Gordon

My name is Stephanie Gordon and I am a teacher education student studying with the

University of New England. I am now in my third year of my Bachelor of Education (Early

Childhood and Primary). I study via distance and I am currently working full time as a pre-

school teacher, at Regand Park Early Childhood Education Centre in Dubbo.

During my placement I will be working with Year 1 for three weeks, and during those three

weeks, I am hoping to learn a lot about teaching, children and myself. I love helping students

learn new and exciting concepts, ensuring that they are given the tools, time and assistance to

do so.

Family Literacy Challenge

You have to be in it to win it, so get your family team together to complete the challenges. There is a box in the front

office to submit your entries. To collect the prize you need to make sure you have one name of a family member per

entry. For example: The Smith family – John Smith 3/4EG

The Challenges

ES1 & S1 (Kindy to Year 2) – Create a song about camp quality. Stage 2 (Year 3&4) – Write a poem about Harry and Meghan. Stage 3 (Year 5&6) – Write a poem about Glen McGrath using language features.

Respect, Honesty, Responsibility – RHR – That’s Who We Are

PBL Update Welcome back to Term 4. Over the next two weeks, students will be revisiting our school expectations of Respect, Honesty and Responsibility (RHR). Some of the expectations are moving safely, doing their best with their learning, being on time and in the right place as well as caring for school property and others. Students who are following our expectations will be acknowledged with a ‘That’s Super’ award. This term students will be required to have 238 points for Blue Level and 226 points for Red Level. Also, they will need to have a 100 points by Monday of week 5 to be eligible for stage rewards. This term is going to be very exciting for blue level students as the end of term PBL draw is going to have some fantastic prizes. Throughout the term a survey will come around to all students to fill out, listing what prizes they would like to see at our PBL draw. Let’s work together to reach blue level and end 2018 with a bang!! RHR That’s Who We Are! Thank you for your support. - PBL Team

Sports and Co-curricular Photos

Representative sport and co-curricular photos are available for order from Advance Life Photography. If you would

like to view photos they are on display in the front office.

Sport

This term Years 3-6 are doing

swimming for sport on Fridays from

11:30am-1pm in weeks 2, 3, 4, 6

and 7. Students will be taken

through a series of activities such

as water confidence, water safety

skills, stroke practice and diving. All

students are grouped according to

the signed permission note from

Term 1 and teacher judgement

based on their swimming ability. If

you feel that your child is in the

wrong group please send in a

signed note stating which group

you feel they should be in, to their

classroom teacher.

Students are reminded to bring

their swimming costume, towel,

hat and sunscreen.

If students are not swimming one

week, a signed note explaining why

they are not swimming needs to be

sent in to their classroom teacher.

Coordinator

Camp Quality esCarpades

NPS students were treated to a very special visit from the Camp Quality esCarpades and

their puppet show on Monday. The cars made lots of noise and the drivers were dressed

to impress our students. Students received gifts and tokens from the drivers. The puppet

show that followed sent a very informative message about cancer, treatment and life

after this disease. Thank you to all who donated to Camp Quality. Laughter is the best

medicine! - Glenyss Wrench

Footy Colours Day!

The playground was awash with colour as the students donned their favourite football colours to raise funds for the

Fight Cancer Foundation. This organisation supports children and young people living with cancer so that they may

continue their education. There was a very exciting guessing competition to see how many metres Mr Geyer kicked a

football. In total the SRC raised close to $200.
