    Using Your Kambrook Doughnut Maker

    Before First UseRemove any packaging materialand promotional labels. Wipe thecooking plates with a soft dampcloth and dry thoroughly.

    Season the cooking plates with a littlevegetable oil and rub off the excesswith absorbent paper. Do not usespray-on coatings as these will affect

    the performance of the non-sticksurface on the cooking plates. Afterthis initial seasoning, there is no needto grease the plates after each use.

    When using the Doughnut Maker forthe first time you may notice a finesmoke haze. This is caused by theheating of some of the components.There is no need for concern.

    1. Insert the plug into a 230V or240V power point. Close the lidand switch the power on at thepower outlet. The red ‘HEATING’light will illuminate.

    2. Allow the appliance to preheatfor approximately 4 to 5 minutes.When the ‘HEATING’ light goesout, the Doughnut Maker is readyto use.

    3. Open the lid and spoon 1tablespoon of prepared batterevenly into each doughnutmould unless another amount isspecified in the recipe. Do notoverfill moulds.

    4. Close the lid, ensuring the lockinglatch clicks into position.

    NOTE: The lid must be closedat all times when baking. Thenon-stick cooking plates and lidbecome very hot. Open the lidusing the handle only.

    5. Allow doughnuts to cook for2-3 minutes or until cookedand golden brown. Removedoughnuts with a heat proofplastic spatula or tongs. Placedoughnuts on a wire rack to coolor as instructed in the recipes.

    NOTE: Do not use metal utensilsas these may scratch the non-stick finish of the cooking plates.

    Before CleaningEnsure that the Doughnut Maker isswitched off by turning the power offat the power outlet and then removingthe plug from the power outlet.

    Allow the Doughnut Maker to coolslightly, the appliance is easier toclean when slightly warm.

    Always clean your Doughnut Maker

    after each use to prevent a build upof baked-on foods.

    To Clean the Cooking PlatesWipe cooking plates with a soft dampcloth. Dry thoroughly. If baked-on foodis difficult to remove, brush with a littleoil or melted butter. Allow to stand forfive minutes then wipe with a dampcloth. If food residue builds up, spraywith a little lemon juice and wipeclean. Do not use abrasives or metalscourers as they will scratch the non-stick surface of the cooking plates.

    Care, Cleaning and Storage

    To Clean the ExteriorWipe with a soft damp cloth and drythoroughly with a soft dry cloth.

    NOTE: Do not immerse any partof the Doughnut Maker in wateror any other liquid.

    StorageBefore storage, ensure that theappliance is switched off by turningoff at the power outlet and thenremoving the plug from the poweroutlet. Ensure the appliance iscompletely cool, clean and dry.Wrap the cord tightly around the cordstorage. Store the appliance uprighton the bench or in a convenientcupboard. Do not place anything ontop of the appliance during storage.

    Plain Doughnuts1½ (225g) cups plain flour

    ½ cup caster sugar

    1½ teaspoons baking powder

    ½ teaspoon salt

    125g butter,softened

    1 x 60g egg

    ¾ cup milk

    1. In a large bowl,stir flour,sugar,bakingpowder and salt to combine. Addbutter,egg,and milk,beat with electricmixer until the mixture is thick , smoothand creamy.

    2. Preheat Doughnut Maker for 4-5minutes. Spoon 1 tablespoon of themixture evenly into each hole of thedoughnut maker. Close lid. Cook for 2minutes or until doughnuts are goldenbrown and soft to touch.

    3. Carefully remove hot doughnuts fromthe doughnut maker and place onto awire rack. Makes 24 doughnuts,cooking6 doughnuts at a time.

    Cinnamon SugarCoated Doughnuts½ cup caster sugar

    2 teaspoons cinnamon

    ½ cup butter,melted,for brushing

    1 quantity of Plain Doughnut Batter

    1. Combine sugar and cinnamon in asmall bowl and set aside.

    2. Melt butter in a small saucepan ormicrowave oven and set aside.

    3. Cook Plain Doughnut recipe andafter removing each batch of

    doughnuts,brush immediately withmelted butter and roll in sugar andcinnamon mixture.

    Lemon and SugarDusted Doughnuts1 quantity of Plain Doughnut Batter

    ½ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice

    ½ cup caster sugar

    1. Cook Plain Doughnut recipe andafter removing each batch ofdoughnuts,place onto a wire rack.Brush immediately with a little of thelemon juice and dust with castersugar. Serve warm.

    Glacé Iced Doughnuts

    Vanilla Glacé Icing:1 cup icing sugar

    1 teaspoon butter,softened

    ¼ teaspoon vanilla essence

    1 Tablespoon water,heated

    1 quantity of Plain Doughnut Batter

    Topping Suggestions:Finely chopped nuts

    Hundred and thousandsColoured Nonpariels

    Silver Cachous

    1. Prepare icing by sifting icing sugarinto as mall bowl,stir in butter,vanillaand sufficient water to mix to aspreadable consis tency.

    2. Cook Plain Doughnut recipe andafter removing each batch ofdoughnuts,place onto a wire rack anddrizzle immediately with a little of theGlacé Icing and sprinkle with a toppingif desired. Allow to set before serving.

    Glacé Icing Variations:

    Coloured Icing – Add 1-2 drops foodcolouring with the water

    Chocolate Icing – Sift 2 teaspoonscocoa powder with the icing sugar.

    Coffee Icing – Dissolve 1 teaspooninstant coffee into the water

    Citrus Icing – Replace vanilla essencewith 1 teaspoon finely grated lemon ororange rind. Replace water with lemonor orange juice. Add 1-2 drops yellow ororange food colouring.

    Choc Top Doughnuts125g dark choc bits

    1 tablespoon butter

    1 quantity of Plain Doughnut Batter

    Topping Suggestions:

    Finely chopped nuts

    Hundred and thousands

    Coloured Nonpareils

    Silver Cachous

    1. Melt choc bits and butter in a smal lbowl over a bowl of hot water. Beatwell to combine.

    2. Cook Plain Doughnut recipe andafter removing each batch ofdoughnuts,place onto a wire rackand drizzle immediately with a littleof the melted chocolate and sprinklewith a topping if desired. Allow to setbefore serving.

    Strawberry Jam and Creamtopped Doughnuts300ml fresh cream

    1 tablespoon caster sugar

    1 quantity of Plain Doughnut Batter

    ½ cup strawberry jam

    1. Whip cream and caster sugar until stiffpeaks form,set aside.

    2. Cook Plain Doughnut recipe and afterremoving each batch of doughnuts,place onto a wire rack to cool. Spoon1 teaspoon jam into indent of eachdoughnut and top with a swirl ofwhipped cream.

    Variation:

    Substitute PLAIN DOUGHNUTS withCINNAMON SUGAR COATED DOUGHNUTS.

    Ground Almond and MapleSyrup Doughnuts1 cup (150g) plain flour

    ½ cup (75g) finely ground almond meal

    ½ cup caster sugar

    1½ teaspoons baking powder

    ½ teaspoon salt

    125g butter,softened

    1 x 60g egg

    ½ cup milk¼ cup maple syrup

    ½ cup maple syrup,extra,for serving

    1. In a large bowl,stir flour,almondmeal,sugar,baking powder and saltto combine. Add butter,egg,andmilk, beat with electric mixer until themixture is th ick,smooth and creamy.

    2. Preheat the Doughnut Maker for 4-5minutes. Spoon 1 tablespoon of themixture evenly into each hole of thedoughnut maker. Close lid. Cook for 2minutes or until doughnuts are goldenbrown and soft to touch.

    3. Carefully remove hot doughnuts fromthe doughnut maker and place ontoa wire rack. Drizzle with extra maplesyrup,if desired. Serve immediately.

    Makes 24 doughnuts,cooking 6 doughnutsat a time.

    Peanut Butter andHoney Doughnuts1½ cups (225g) plain flour

    ¼ cup caster sugar

    1½ teaspoons baking powder

    ½ teaspoon salt

    100g butter,softened

    2 tablespoons smooth peanut butter

    1 x 60g egg

    ½ cup milk¼ cup honey

    ½ cup honey,extra,for serving

    1. In a large bowl,stir flour,sugar,bakingpowder and salt to combine. Addbutter, peanut butter,egg,milk andhoney, beat with electric mixer until themixture is thick,smooth and creamy.

    2. Preheat the Doughnut Maker for 4-5minutes. Spoon 1 tablespoon of themixture evenly into each hole of thedoughnut maker. Close lid. Cook for 2minutes or until doughnuts are goldenbrown and soft to touch.

    ½ cup light brown sugar

    1½ teaspoons baking powder

    ½ teaspoon salt

    100g butter,softened

    1 x 60g egg

    ½ cup milk

    ½ cup cooked,mashed pumpkin,cooled

    ½ cup butter,melted,for serving½ cup caster sugar,extra,for serving

    1. In a large bowl,stir flour,sugar, bakingpowder and salt to combine. Addbutter,egg,milk and pumpkin,beatwith electric mixer until the mixture isthick,smooth and creamy.

    2. Preheat the Doughnut Maker for 4-5minutes. Spoon 1 tablespoon of themixture evenly into each hole of thedoughnut maker. Close lid. Cook for 2minutes or until doughnuts are goldenbrown and soft to touch.

    ¼ cup caster sugar

    1½ teaspoons baking powder

    ½ teaspoon salt

    100g butter,softened

    1 x 60g egg

    ½ cup milk

    ½ cup finely grated Cheddar or

    Parmesan cheese2 Tablespoons finely chopped Bacon Bits

    1. In a large bowl,stir flour,sugar,bakingpowder and salt to combine. Addbutter,egg,milk,cheese and BaconBits,beat with electric mixer until themixture is thick,smooth and creamy.
