    Where is it located?

    Perched at an altitude of 2590 m above sea level,

    Kanatal is a small hill town near Mussoorie that offers

    spectacular views of snow covered hills.

    What is the temperature like?

    Summer: 15oC to 20oC

    Winter: 5oC to 10oC

    There are high chances of enjoying snowfall between

    November and January.

    nearest airport to Kanatal.

    You can catch a train to Dehradun or Haridwar which

    are the nearest railway stations to Kanatal.

    Places of interest in Kanatal

    Tehri Dam: This dam is built on the confluence ofRiver Bhagirathi and Bhilangna and makes for an

    interesting visit. While at New Tehri, also visit the

    Pant Research Institute where various kinds of fruits

    and plants are grown.

    Kodia Jungle: This place is a very nice picnic spot.

    A leveled 8 km track will take you through dense

    forests which open up to a vast expanse of undulating

    hills and valleys. Tiny, gurgling natural springs also

    come along the way, and if you are lucky you could

    spot a few wild animals.

    Mussoorie: 37 km from Kanatal, Mussoorie is a

    popular tourist destination. The place is filled with

    game centres, restaurants, and local shops.

    Chamba: Located 16 km from Kanatal, this hamlet is

    untouched by urbanisation and commercialisation.

    About 1600 m above sea level, this serene place offers

    an opportunity to relax and rejuvenate.

    Surkunda Devi Temple:Situated at at an altitude

    of about 9500 ft, this temple affords a scenic view of

    the surrounding region including the Himalayas to the

    north. The Ganga Dussera festival, celebrated

    between May and June attracts a lot of people.

    Dhanaulti: At a distance of 12 km from Kanatal,

    Dhanaulti offers a scenic escape. Treks and pony

    rides along fruit orchards and sparkling streams keep

    visitors engaged with nature.

    Shivpuri: About 75 km from Kanatal, Shivpuri is a

    popular rafting destination. The best time to go rafting

    is from September to October and then from March to

    May. It is closed in the monsoon season.
