KAMS Funding Needs

Please consider the life-changing aspects of a scholarship gift. Helping young people find their place in the world should be our legacy and our heritage.

Housing Scholarship for One StudentKAMS’ students/parents currently pay housing and meal fees. These expenses amount to just over $7,000. Without scholarships, some exceptional students may not be able to attend the academy.

Research Scholarship for One StudentResearch is a key component to the KAMS experience. Support is needed for all KAMS students to participate in research projects.

Annual Travel and Activity FundThere are a wide range of activities that are integral to the entire KAMS experience. Students will have the opportunity to enter science fairs, competitions, and attend other scholastic and extracurricular activities. Transportation, materials, and entry fees are some of the expenses needed in order for KAMS students to participate.

The students selected for KAMS represent the economic future for Kansas in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. A highly selective admissions process based on ACT scores, academic transcripts, student essays, recommendations, and personal interviews, is used to select KAMS students from across the state.

We have had over 60 students complete the academy. Today, there are 65 students in the program. FHSU is currently recruiting its sixth class, which will begin in the fall of 2014. These exceptional students represent urban, suburban, and rural communities from across the state.

Fort Hays State University is privileged to host this premier academic opportunity for the state of Kansas. FHSU is a Kansas leader in high-tech delivery of instruction, small class size, undergraduate research, and a safe campus community.

With your support, the academy will continue to enhance the unique KAMS experience for these talented students who are the intellectual capital and future leaders of our state.
