Georgia State Alumnae Chapters of Kappa Delta Sorority

Just a few Kappa Deltas Making a Difference Across GeorgiaCarrie Coulter Hamilton, Gamma Gamma - High Point University, is making a difference in Forsyth County. Carrie has been practicing pharmacy for 18 years. Carrie has served on the Bald Ridge Lodge Board of Directors for the last 4 years. Bald Ridge Lodge is a non-profit Stabilization and Assessment Center for boys located in Forsyth County, Georgia which serves boys ages 12-21. Bald Ridge Lodge also serves those who are in the custody of the Department of Family and Children Services or referred by the local Juvenile Court. Through partnership with referring agencies, as well as families, they focus on family reunification and restoration. While at the Lodge, boys receive counseling, mentoring, community support and engage in positive activities.

In May 2018, Carrie graduated from the Leadership Forsyth program. As part of the program, the class identifies a community need and a method to solve it. Carrie’s class project was a mobile food pantry for The Place of Forsyth County. The pantry will travel to locations throughout Forsyth County to serve those most in need.

Eight years ago, a few months after the devastating earthquake in Haiti, Carrie traveled to Port of Prince with a team of healthcare providers on a medical mission to provide care to those most in need. This mission trip was transforming for Carrie and planted a seed in her heart that would grow over the coming years. Carrie was determined to begin healthcare mission work in her own county. Her experience with Bald Ridge Lodge and Leadership Forsyth has provided the expertise and resources to develop her dream for a free health clinic in her county into a reality.

The inaugural Board of Directors for the Forsyth Community Clinic is working on their mission and vision statement and 501c3 status. The goal is to be functioning in the next twelve months. “This project is in its infancy, but with time, talent and dedication, I look forward to looking back in a few years on the successes and significant partner this clinic will be in the healthcare landscape of Forsyth County, Georgia.”

Ryann Miller, Eta Omega- Kennesaw State, is making a difference as a collegian. Over the past three years, Ryann has been a driving force behind the student organization KSU Miracle raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. This year, 1,500 people came together for the largest fundraiser of KSU Miracle’s annual campaign, the 12-hour dance marathon. Their goal was $300,000 – they raised $330,000, far exceeding anyone’s expectations.

Miller learned about KSU Miracle during the summer following her freshman year, and she immediately was drawn to the organization’s commitment to helping children. She served on KSU Miracle’s board of directors as a sophomore and helped raise $72,000, nearly triple the amount the organization contributed to Children’s Healthcare the previous year.

Miller is quite familiar with children receiving treatment in a hospital. She has 11 brothers and sisters, including seven who are adopted and have special needs such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, autism and blindness.

“My parents really are incredible role models — not just for me, but for our organization. They just continue to selflessly serve my family and my KSU family,” Miller said.

KSU Miracle named a new award in Ryann’s honor. The Miller Miracle Award is given to a student “who displays the love and dedication shown by Ryann Miller during her time as executive director.”

Delta Psi is AMAZING! These girls took home two awards this past April at the UWG Student Achievement Awards: Most Outstanding Philanthropy and President’s Flame, which recognizes the most outstanding Greek organization on campus. They were the only NPC organization recognized at the ceremony!! This is the second year in a row they have been recognized as the top chapter on campus – they truly are extraordinary!

Katie Dallas, Sigma Phi - UGA, is making a difference teaching illiterate adults. She teaches adult education to non-reading and low level reading adults including numerous students from a training facility for mentally challenged. “We have a large number of adults who are good people, but life got in the way before they finished high school. I know that what they learn can enable them to protect themselves. Their education will improve their lives and the lives of their families in the long haul.”

Rosane Sandberg (right), Eastern Illinois - Delta Beta, is making a difference in Lawrenceville. The president of the Gwinnett County Alumnae Chapter also serves as Public Relations and Facebook Chairman for the Lawrenceville Woman’s Club. She is also past VP of Membership, Education Community Service Project Chair, Treasurer and Sunshine Chair. Earlier this year on Saturday, April 28 was the Woman’s Club Day of Service. They requested donations to Fill the Trolley to benefit a Partnership Against Domestic Violence shelter. Kappa Delta Gwinnett County Alumnae stepped up to donate requested items. The trolley was filled to the rafters!
