  2. 2. Background Karin Fong is a director and designer based in New York City. A native Californian, Fong studied Art at Yale, with a concentration in Graphic Design. After successfully creating an animated alphabet book for her senior project, she began her career as an animator on the WGBH television program 'Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?' From that point forward, Karin was hooked on creating work that combines live action, design, and animation.
  3. 3. Fongs work Among the numerous title sequences Fong directed are DEAD MAN ON CAMPUS,DAREDEVIL, THE PRIZEWINNER OF DEFIANCE, OHIO, THE MUMMY III: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR. Recent work includes the main title sequence of The Pink Panther 2 - a dream job for any title designer - and the opening titles and "machine vision" forTERMINATOR SALVATION. Her main titles for her main titles for the tv series Chuck was nominated for 2 Emmy's in 2008, winning one. In 2001 she received her first Emmy for her main titles for Masterpiece Theatre's "American Collection".
  4. 4. The title sequence uses mise en scene to potentially hint to the story line of the film, for example the exam like questions which wed associate with school kids. The camera pans over close ups of paper documents such as these diagrams which have humorous connotations such as the top left image (to the left) suggesting the genre of the film comedy.   5. 5. Audience Fong cleverly uses the idea of an exam to tell the audience who the cast In the film is, involving the audience and therefore engages them into the film. The film has an age certificate of 15 which suggests the target audience would be younger as the film would be most relatable as its set in school and has relatable aspects such as parties. Drawings in the title sequence also reflect the poster of the film.
  6. 6. Sound All aspects in the title sequence are relatable for example the diagrams of the music notes and the Music Supervisors. The soundtrack is an upbeat rock song which is parallel with the pace of the title sequence, where the different clips are put together in post production.
