Settled• Finland was settled in 1100’s to

the 1200’s. It was so long ago that know one no's who settled Finland.

Independence• Finland declared its

independence from Russia in 1917.

Important Dates• In the 1500’s to the 1700’s

Sweden and Russia fought several wars for possession of Finland.

• In 1809 Finland became a grand duchy of the Russians Empire.

Natural Resources• The natural resources in Finland

is widespread forests, poor soil, no deposits of oil, natural gas or coal. They don’t have that much natural resources. Water powers produce their electricity, and their most important mineral is copper.

Climate• Finland isn’t that warm its average

annual temperature is 41F. The average annual precipitation is 25in. Its cold is Finland. You never know if its going to be cold or warm.

Housing• Most people in Finland live in

apartments. Otherwise they live in the country in one family homes.

Flag• Finland’s flag has only the color

blue and white. Its white with a blue cross. The blue means the sea, and the white means the fields.

Communications• Finland has televisions,

telephones, radios, and newspapers to communicate with. They have 3,200,000 televisions, 1.92 million main line and 5.67 million cellular for telephones,7,700,000 radios, and 55 daily newspapers.

Manufacturing• The manufactured products in

Finland are chemicals, machinery, metals, paper, processed foods, clothing, transportation equipment, wood and wood products.
