ORCHARD FENCE Austin, Texas 2011
This project required a new design for a semi-private fence along the side of a cli-ents’ house, creating an infrastruc-ture on which to grow a condensed fi g orchard, using espaliered trees.
1960 UPDATE Austin, Texas 2011
We regained the feel of the 1960 icon-ic architecture by creating an outdoor patio reengaging the street.

This demanding site called for a ter-raced vegetable garden, and a water management system that thoughtfully moved storm water across the site. A robust deer fence was necessary to pro-tect the clients’ vegetable garden.

The entrance of this 1960’s ranch house was converted to an outdoor living space with a gravel courtyard, and a low-maintenance garden.

The fingered-layout of 3 buildings facilitate the strategic movement of people and breezes across the park. As the earth falls away, additional day lighting becomes possible when desirable, and views of the prairie unfold from within the offi ce spaces. Operable shade structures hover above the facility, allowing for adaptable light conditions.
