On the online reporting website or app you can: • Report sightings of invasive species • Get information & photos of more than 150 invasive species • Create, view & download invasive species reports & maps • Contribute to a community of citizen scientists These regulations apply across the province: you can attach up to 4 hooks to your fishing line and can use only 1 line. Certain exceptions exist, depending on where and how you are fishing. Great Lakes You can use 2 lines when fishing from a boat in the Great Lakes, however, exceptions and restrictions apply. Ice fishing In most waters, you can ice fish with 2 lines as long as: • you stay within 60 metres at all times of any line or tip-up • you have a clear & unobstructed view of your lines at all times RULES FOR LEAD SINKERS & JIGS You cannot use lead fishing sinkers or jigs in Canada’s national parks and wildlife areas. When birds and other wildlife swallow them they can get lead poisoning. Small lead sinkers have been banned from National Parks. FISHING WITH LIVE BAIT By law, you need a valid fishing licence (e.g., sport or conservation) to catch your own live baitfish, leeches, crayfish and northern leopard frogs. With a fishing licence, you cannot: • sell baitfish and leeches — unless you have a valid commercial bait licence • import live fish, crayfish, live leeches or salamanders • capture, import or use salamanders as bait In Ontario, the fishing regulations control live bait to prevent the spread of infectious fish diseases, unwanted & invasive species. In some areas of Ontario and many individual waterbodies, you cannot use or possess any kind of live bait.
