KINGDOM

BUILDING SEMINAR

NOVEMBER 2014

A “Watchful” Witness

“Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At

the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the

word, to declare the mystery of Christ . . .” (Col 4:2-3 ESV)

WE ARE GOD’S WITNESSES

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8 NIV)

PAUL’S PASSION

For though I preach the gospel,

I have nothing to glory of: for

necessity is laid upon me; yea,

woe is unto me, if I preach not

the gospel! (1 Cor. 9:16, KJV)

THE GREAT COMMISSION

18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All

authority in heaven and on earth has been

given to me. 19 Therefore go and make

disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the

name of the Father and of the Son and of the

Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey

everything I have commanded you. And surely

I am with you always, to the very end of the

age.” (Matt 28:18-20 NIV)

GOING FISHING JOHN 21:1-11

He said, "Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some." When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish. (John 21:6 NIV)

"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will send you out to fish for people." (Matt 4:19 NIV)

EZEKIEL THE WATCHMAN (3:10-21)

“Son of man, I have appointed you as a

watchman for Israel. Whenever you

receive a message from me, warn

people immediately...” (Ezek 3:17 NLT)

11 “Go now to your people in exile and

speak to them. Say to them, 'This is what

the Sovereign LORD says,' whether they

listen or fail to listen.” (Ezek 3:11 NIV)

WHY ARE WE “HEAR” TODAY?

“But you will receive power when the

Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be

my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all

Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of

the earth.” (Act 1:8 NIV)

May God empower us to follow the

examples of the disciples and be

effective witnesses for Him!

KBS WORKSHOP- “DO SOMETHING!”

“The supreme purpose of every true Christian

church, the chief duty of every Christian minister,

the main responsibility of every Christian layman, is

to present to all who may be reached, in the clearest

and most forceful way, the basic facts of the Gospel

of Christ, and to urge all who hear to make a definite

personal response to these facts which God

requires. To this, the supreme task, every other duty

and activity of the church must be secondary and

subsidiary.”—Derek Prince

IF YOU INVITE THEM THEY WILL

COME!

“82% of unchurched people would

likely attend church if invited. But

only 2% of churched people offer

invitations.” Thomas Rainer, The

Unchurched Next Door (Grand

Rapids: Zondervan, 2003).

AUTHENTICITY OVER

EXCELLENCE“Today’s young adults value authenticity. They

witnessed a generation of baby boomer

Christians who required the appearance of

excellence in every part of church life.”—Robert

Stearns, et.al. Return to Authentic Christianity

(Shippenburg: Destiny Publishers, 2010).

“Choose a good reputation over great riches for

being in high esteem is better than having silver

or gold.” Proverbs 22:1

“Feed the hungry and if necessary

use food!”

“How can people call on someone

they have not believed? How can

they believe in someone they have

not heard about? And how can they

hear without a preacher?” Romans

PRAYER AND EVANGELISM

and eat. We stay after church and

pray.” --Billy Kim (Korean Baptist

Church Leader)

“Pray continually.” 1 Thess 5:10

“Devote yourselves to prayer.” Col

4:2

STORY TELLING EVANGELISM

Huxley said, “Instead of going to church today

will you sit down and tell me why you are a

Christian and what your faith means to you?”

The man said, “Oh but you could demolish all

of my arguments in a minute.” Huxley said, “I

do not want to argue with you. I have no

intention of doing so. I simply want to hear

your story.” So the man stayed with him and

told him the story of his faith journey.

Page 17: KBS 2014 Judy Dempster

WHAT ELSE CAN WE DO?

Make a list of people in your sphere of

influence who need salvation.

Commit to pray for them.

Look for ways of “doing good” to them.

Pray and look for an opportunity to

share the Gospel to them.

“DO SOMETHING!”

If not us, who?

If not now, when?

If not here, where?
