For our concept, we areworking with this idea of finding your way, as well as highlighting the diversity of experiences that KCAI prizes. We are utilizingthe metaphor of following your own path and illustrating that diversity on campus through a system of diferent colors that guideyou to each building.

Our method of way-finding, targeted towards first time visitors who know nothing of the campus, utilizes bright colors andunique sculptural guide-shapes. These guide-shapes are color-coded to designate routes to each location from the mainentrance.

Long sheets of colorfully painted metal would fold, bend, and wrap around the environment, and appear to burrow into surfaces,only to reappear further along the route, which is established at well-labeled moments of crossroads. These shapes burst *playfully into view, referencing the angles and corners of the KCAI core graphic, reassuring you that youre on the right tracktowards your destination.

An interesting visual complexity will emerge along main through-ways where several paths use the same route. In these places,there can be an interplay between the colors, so that its easy to tell when your path either joins with or separates from others.

It is our intention that, for added independent, collaborative, and community emphasis, these shapes should be constructed byKCAI students themselves in sculpture classes, so that each would have its own individual character, and a visitors experience oftraversing the campus would be alive with the handiwork of the students who had been there before them.
