Even with all the advancements in medicine, treatment is focused on symptomatic relief versus addressing the cause of disease. Billions of dollars are pouring into research to solve these problems. Yet, natural, preventative solutions can be realized from eating well, getting exercise, and reducing stress.

At our clinic, Hestrup Family Chiropractic-Natural Health Improvement Center, there is hope and potential for a healthy lifestyle full of energy and vitality to live wholly and accomplish your goals and dreams. At our clinic we want our patients to achieve optimum overall—physical

and mental—health through education, gentle chiropractic care, massage therapy, acupuncture and whole food nutrition.

The best cure for disease is health—which seems like a silly thing to say but nothing could be more true! Healthy individuals do not get sick often nor do they suffer from allergies. People who are healthy sometimes are gifted with a strong genetic foundation, but more commonly, healthy people do the right things to build and maintain their health. When good health is realized allergies and the common cold do not arise. You can choose this lifestyle too!

We are helping patients build their health in order to strengthen their immune system. Concisely, we promote health so disease stays away. We want others to avoid the cold, flu, and allergy seasons by supporting their health all year long, just as we have learned to do.

Our clinic has helped many individuals improve their health through whole food nutrition. We strive to educate patients so they understand what foods energize the body for work, play and healing.

Although our environment has become polluted causing low-quality nutritional support in our foods, here at Hestrup Family Chiropractic-Natural Health Improvement Center, we know the

solution to build health is with whole foods and whole food nutrition.

We welcome everyone to call our office located at 525 Tyler Road, Suite A, St. Charles, IL 60174 to set up an appointment for a health check. Furthermore, we invite everyone for a non-invasive complete health check for $49, regularly $150. Also we invite everyone to bring a family member or neighbor so they may learn more about their overall health----for better digestion, how to eliminate mood swings, how to lose weight, to sleep better and to increase their energy.

ask dr. mullickDear Dr. Mullick: What is the importance of a colonoscopy? It seems expensive, how can I save and get good care. My last bill was near 9000$!!!? --- From Jan, Geneva, IL

Jan, Thanks for asking. Colonoscopy is a test to screen and survey for polyps (growths that likely will go to cancer). Colon cancer is preventable, beatable and treatable. Thus it is important for everyone above the age of 50 to get one and with some frequency. Also, it is used commonly to evaluate diarrhea, constipation, rectal bleeding, or diverticulitis.

Yes colonoscopy is expensive with facility fees. Physician fees are typically a smaller portion and fixed based on the doctor. These have declined a lot in the past years. But facility fees are the key. You can have a more expensive facility fee in a hospital or hospital based surgical center between 4000 and 5000 dollars. We have a center where you can pay less than 1900 dollars. So call 630-232-2025 for a quick appointment. We would be honored and privileged to take care of you

Dear Dr. Mullick: I have heartburn. I have tried various treatments. I have been on acid medications over the counter. What should I do? Is there any long term concerns? --- From John, St. Charles, IL

John, yes you should have an endoscopy (a test with a camera to look at your esophagus (food pipe) under sedation) done to determine if you have any esophagitis or a hiatal hernia (which is slippage of the stomach above the diagphragm muscle). In addition, if you have weight loss, anemia or difficulty swallowing that is important too for evaluation. Lastly, long term heartburn can lead to strictures (narrowings) or Barrett’s esophagus (a precancerous change that can only be identified with a biopsy during an endoscopy). It is most common in Caucasian males, but can occur in anyone with chronic heartburn. Taking medications may be putting a bandaid on the true problem. I encourage a proper evaluation.

Finally, a pH test can be done to determine the effectiveness of treatment.

Dear Dr. Mullick: I have hemorrhoids. Is

James, yes there are new therapies out there. There are conservative measures with steroid creams and stool softeners. We offer the opportunity for you to be treated by a novel thermal energy which can help with hemorrhoids depending on their location. Please call 630-232-2025 for an appointment.

Dear Dr. Mullick: I have Crohn’s disease and my sister has colitis. What can you suggest in terms of new therapies? My other doctor is less familiar with the new anti-TNF medications? --- From Jean, Elgin, IL

Jean, we offer for the past 12 years all the cutting edge medications. I was the co –chair of the CCFA’s largest course a few years back. We have four medications that can be tried. Come on over.

Dear Dr. Mullick: I am interested in wellness and nutrition. So many vitamins out there and so much for weight loss? What do you suggest? We recommend one brand for the vitamins since they have FDA approval for their production. Please call 630-232-2025 or check out our site www.mullickmd.com. For assistance. We can have our wellness coach help you as well.

Organ and tissue donation affords men and women a unique opportunity to help

others. Physical condition will dictate if a person can donate, although people with

a previous medical condition may still be suitable donors. According to the United

States Department of Health and Human Services, each organ and tissue donor

has the potential to save or improve the lives of as many as 50 people. Organs

and tissues eligible for donation include the heart, pancreas, lungs, liver, kidneys,

intestines, cornea, skin, connective tissues, and bone marrow, among others. In

the United States, donors can register with a state donor registry or designate their

decisions on their driver’s licenses.
