( ! m » q ! ö Sampson State Park Revised Draft Master Plan Proposed Improvements Campgrounds Campground Loops 1 through 5 Upgrade existing campsite loops 1-5. Upgrade existing electric and water hookup systems. Upgrade comfort stations with energy-efficient lighting and water conserving fixtures. Make campground loops and comfort stations compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by following universal design and ADA guidelines. Additional camping facilities by the concessionaire to be completed in phases., new RV campsites and cabins were available adjacent to the Marina in 2020. Additional camping facilities may be proposed by the concessionaire in the future, to be determined by budget and need. New Camping (Concessionaires Contract Area) Develop new full service RV Camping sites Install new cabins Install new associated camping amenities Park Office Update existing park office to meet operational demands. Improve energy efficiency through use of LED lighting, energy-efficient windows, and added insulation. Install low-flow or waterless fixtures for water conservation. Update interior flooring, walls, cases, countertop and furnishings. Create seating/gathering area. Install new fiber service cable to improve network connectivity. Retrofit facility to comply with universal design and other accessibility guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Recreation Building Improve and expand opportunities within the current recreation building. Add new activities to indoor recreation space such as table tennis, foosball, pool tables. Update interior flooring and wall treatments. Incorporate amenities to support regional tourism events such as beer, wine, and cheese tastings. Install energy efficiency updates (as described above for the park office). Seating and wireless internet (WiFi) will be available throughout the park office/recreation building. Waterfront Guarded Swimming Amenity Update beach area. Improve access to comply with ADA guidelines. Supply additional sand to beach area. Waterfront Update Fishing Pier. Resurface concrete and add railings to existing fishing pier. Marina/Boat Launch Marina renovation and upgrade by concessionaire to be completed in phases. In 2020, an upgraded transient and seasonal dock system with boat fueling and pump-out operations, automated boat launch was available, as well as a new ship store, utility upgrades, and other infrastructure and operational improvements. Additional improvements may be proposed by the concessionaire in the future, to be determined by budget and need. Park Infrastructure Amenities Install new pavilion (location to be determined) Install new accessible picnic area Improve existing comfort stations at camping loops. Make all comfort stations compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by applying universal design and ADA guidelines. Solid Waste Management Remove existing gravity dump station and provide a new dump station. Construct new four-bay gravity dump station at selected location. Park Communications Network and Utilities Install upgraded communications/internet and electric infrastructure in the park to meet current and future park operational needs. Provide public wireless internet connection (WiFi) in select park locations (i.e., park office/recreation building). Provide a new substation Add solar energy infrastructure to the park. Old Water Tower Remove existing water tower and accessory building and restore site. Roads/Paths/Trails Develop a uniquely designed park road system connecting existing and new facilities, improving roads that are retained and removing unneeded roads. Develop a comprehensive vehicle/pedestrian circulation plan which will include a formal trail system. Plan will incorporate new and existing roads that connect park features, including new and existing camping areas, park office and recreation building, museum, marina, and manager s residence. Improve associated drainage, using green infrastructure and materials for stormwater management when feasible. Scenic Resource Protection Consider scenic lake and interior park vistas in all projects. Storm Water Management Include innovative green stormwater management practices in all master plan designs and park construction projects. Sustainability Improve energy efficiency, water conservation, and use of carbon reduction practices (e.g., reduced mowing; use of alternative fuel machinery and vehicles) throughout the park. Interpretation and Education Develop interpretive and educational signage for cultural, natural, and regional resources. Signage Improve wayfinding signage throughout the park. Recreational Resources Boating Full-service marina with updated dock system; seasonal slip rental and transient docks, automated boat launch with pay station, boat fueling and pump-out operations and ship store. Fishing Fishing opportunities remain unchanged. Court Games Improve existing basketball and tennis courts with upgraded court surfaces. Add Pickleball and outdoor bocce ball courts. Install connector paths, fencing, benches, and water fountains. Guarded Swimming Amenity Swimming opportunities remain unchanged. Trail Uses Continue to allow walking, running, roller-blading, cycling; cross-country skiing and snowshoeing when covered in snow. Provide appropriate wayfinding signs for year-round use.
