With popular dessert and dining hotspots, Mother Vine, Cocolat and Orana offering a welcoming smile from both entrances, Frank’s Lane certainly doesn’t feel like the smallest of the bunch. It’s the perfect spot to hop between dinner, sweets and cocktails without getting caught in the weather, plus there is plenty of outside dining between close neighbours Cocolat and Mother Vine. DID YOU KNOW? The mural of Mr. Frank Vaiana, better known as ‘Frank the Barber’ was painted last year by local artist Nick Phillips. Starting on East Terrace in 1957, Frank traded from three separate shops on Rundle Street for 41 years before moving into his new premises in 1998 at 16 Vardon Avenue where he still operates today. This year celebrates 60 years of continuous service in the East End for Frank – what a fabulous story in its own right. HOTSPOT You’re greeted with lofty red brick archways at Vardon’s East Terrace start line, before taking in an immersive and trendy trail of watering holes that can’t be beaten. The forever-bustling Exchange Specialty Coffee has expanded its home, meaning a few more spots to find a seat and enjoy an exceptional brew with a brilliant view of the precinct. The street’s favourite two-storey establishment NOLA never fails to deliver world-class beer matched with some delicious menu options. The crawl doesn’t end there. A new rum bar, The William Bligh, will be taking up permanent residency right across the road. Expect to see doors open late March ’17 – you heard it here first. Of course, who can go past a glass (or two!) at Vardon’s central soldier, East End Cellars. Look out, the hotspot will play host to their East End Wine Down on April 1st. Expect a city laneway tastefest with delectable street food, SA’s finest wines and no shortage of dancing! The perfect place to eat, drink and shop till your hearts content, Ebenezer is a hive of activity in the East End. Pop into cosy coffee hangout SAD café and pick up a gourmet toastie, or meet for an early breakfast at local favourite East End Providore.
