BANDON — A Beaujolais Nouveau Cask Party will be held from 12-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, and Saturday, Nov. 23, at Farm & Sea in the Old Town Marketplace, 250 First St. SW, in Old Town Bandon.

All profits will benefit Bandon Feeds the Hungry, a fundraiser that supports the five non-profit food assistance groups in Bandon.

"We have never done this before," said Farm & Sea co-owner Lori Osborne. "We have pur-chased a fresh harvest cask that will be flown in from France, with only 100 glasses available at $10 a glass. We also purchased three cases of the

bottles for your enjoyment to celebrate with your friends and family throughout the upcoming holi-days."

The Beaujolais wine, made with 100 percent gamay grapes, can be purchased for $25 a bottle. However, bottles will be reserved for cask glass purchase participants first.

Everyone who purchases a glass or bottle will be entered in a drawing to give away the beautiful cask once the 100 glasses have been sold and cask is empty. The event will also feature complimen-tary appetizers.

Beaujolais wine to be celebrated

BANDON — On Nov. 21, banners through-out France will proclaim Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrive! Translation: "The New Beaujolais has arrived." One of the most frivolous and animated rituals in the wine world will begin. By the time it is over, 65 million bottles will be distributed and drunk around the world.

It has become a worldwide race to be the first to serve this new wine of the harvest. The rules are strict. By French law, Beaujolais Nouveau is to be released no earlier than the third Thursday in November.

Bandon has been celebrating with the rest of the world for several years, explained Bread & Wine owner Nancy Evans.

Cases of Beaujolais Nouveau are shipped

from France to every part of the globe. Bandon represents one of the most remote locations were fans can partake in trying this year's vintage on the same day as people all around the world.

Bread & Wine will offer complimentary tast-ing with suggested food pairing from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21. Bread & Wine is located at the entrance to Old Town at 350 Second St SE.

"This year we would like to encourage our guests to make a reservation at an Old Town res-taurant to complete their evening. We have excel-lent choices in eating establishments as we all know, so plan now to visit one of your favorites or try a something new. Just remember to stop in first with us for a toast to what the party is all about: Beaujolais Nouveau 2019,” she added.

BANDON — Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy a free meal on Thanksgiving.

Bandon Holiday Meals volunteers will be serving the 2019 Thanksgiving meal from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 28, at The Barn, located at 1200 11th St. SW in Bandon.

Holiday Meals started more than 30 years ago as a way for the community to enjoy the holiday with one another and get to know their neighbors, and that is still the spirit of the event. Volunteers and businesses donate food items and/or time to serve community members. The meal consists of turkey and ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuff-ing, yams, green beans, coleslaw, cranberry sauce,

rolls, assorted desserts and beverages (coffee, juice, water). Last year, more than 400 meals were served or delivered.

The meal is free, but donations will gladly be accepted at the door. Anyone in the Bandon area who is homebound and unable to attend the com-munity meal can pre-order a Thanksgiving dinner, and Holiday Meals will have it delivered.

Those who are homebound can call Colleen Wiesel at 916-221-0318 to order a Thanksgiving meal for delivery. A limited number of volunteers are needed, but to be put on the volunteer list, call Ginny Hall at 541-404-4702. Organizers are ask-ing for no dessert donations this year.

BANDON — Everyone’s invited to the Sprague Community Theater for an open house event with the Bandon Arts Council, Sunday, Nov. 17. Drop in between 2 and 4 p.m., and get to know the organizations who bring arts, cul-ture, learning and fun to Bandon’s community theater.

Enjoy backstage tours, a video presenta-tion, live music and refreshments.

"One of Bandon’s greatest assets is the Sprague Theater," said Bandon Arts Council Chairman Maria Merriam. "The venue has pro-vided the catalyst to the performing arts in our local community which few towns our size can boast. Since its opening, thousands of local youth and adults, both amateur and professional have presented live entertainment on this stage.

The value of this facility is immeasurable."It’s my personal hope that everyone who

comes to this open house not only enjoys a rainy day excursion of fun music and backstage tours, but has an opportunity to learn more about being involved in the local performing arts organizations and how to support this amazing treasure we have, the Sprague Community Theater."

Know Your Theater is a free community open house presented by the Bandon Arts Council, a nonprofit dedicated to theater pro-motion and technical upgrades. The Sprague Theater is located at 1202 11th St. SW, in Bandon City Park. For more information, email [email protected], or call 541-252-1394.

BANDON — The next Bandon Showcase offers something never before seen on a local stage, featuring an adventure tale told through heart-stopping aerial routines and amazing acrobatics.

“Aureum” From Halcyon Shows will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Sprague Community Theater, 1202 11th St. SW in Bandon.

Aureum combines the elements of theatrical story-telling and characters with world-class acrobatics and aerial movement. These elements, with an incredible original soundtrack and high flying technical elements, are usually only possible in stadiums. Thrill to the original music, choreography and some never-seen-before aerial performances.

A time traveler meets the beautiful and benevolent White Queen of Aureum — a defender of nature's

power. Through the sorcery of the Red Empress, a gath-ering of dark powers threatens the tranquil world of Aureum, and its inhabitants must find a way to protect it at all costs.

Aureum is a story of finding love in the most unusual places, and how the bonds that unite us are stronger than those that divide us.

"This is sure to be an unforgettable experience for the whole family," said Bandon Showcase president MaryAnn Soukup.

The show will also feature an outreach for local youth. Intermission wine-bar and desserts hosted by Edgewaters and Coastal Mist Chocolate Boutique. Tickets are $25 each, reserved seating, and available at Bandon Mercantile (541-347-4341) or by visiting ban-donshowcase.org.
