MASTER’S MESSAGE

Brethren,

Welcome back from summer vacation. Hope everyone enjoyed and stayed safe. Now its time to get back to work. Our first meeting September 9th will be welcome everyone back and if anyone has a

special vacation that they would like to share we would like to hear it. We will have memorial service for WB Harold Makinster, WB John Koehler, Sr and Brother Dean “ Snuffy” Smith.

We will be honoring our past masters on September 23rd. We will have advance night October 14th and election of new Officers on October 28th. We can talk about this on both nights, October 14th and 28th.

Don’t forget we will also have our 5th Tuesday Potluck on September 30th.

TEMPLE BOARD HAPPENINGS

Summer has come and gone and the Temple Board was able to accomplish a number of our summer projects. Our goals for the summer were:

o Clean the moss from the roof and have it resealed. The moss was removed and the roof is being cleaned and resealed.

o Remove all of the windows on the east wall and replace all the wooden material and reinstall. Maybe next year.

o Repair the damaged concrete above the rear door and seal. Completed

o Fabricate and install handrails in the East. Fall

o o Clean and paint the back wall. This is a lot of work

and hopefully we will be able to complete most of it. Contracted out due to the scope of the work. M&R Painting is doing the work.

o Replace main stairway and landing carpet. Out for bids hopefully we will do week of October 20th

When the windows on the rear wall and the walls at

the bottom of the rear stairs are repaired we should have the building up to a level that it will be easy to maintain.

A special thanks to all that volunteered to work on the projects, especially the roof and door repairs.

LODGE NEWS WB John Koehler, Sr, Past Master of Kelso Lodge passed to the Celestial Lodge on August 28. Masonic services will be

held on September 9th @ 11 a.m. at the Stella Lutheran Church.

The Lodge lost two of its longtime officers with the passing of Brothers Jerry Cooney, Harold Makinster, and John Koehler, Sr. All were very active and supportive of our Brotherhood.

We will be celebrating our Feast of Tishri on October 18th at the Moose Lodge in Longview @ 6:30 PM.

MAPLE CHAPTER O.E.S. MEETS THE 2ND AND 5TH WEDNESDAY @7:30 PM

COLUMBIA RIVER SHRINE CLUB

MEETS ON THE 4TH THURSDAY @ 5:30 PM LONGVIEW AMERICAN LEGION

Beginning in September our club meetings will be held at the Longview American Legion, 1250 12th Avenue. Noble Dewey Rexford has been meeting with them and the pricing and menu will be similar to what we have been having. The Moose Club decided they needed their dinning room on our meeting nights.

The Annual Shriner’s Football game will be played on September 19th at Longview Memorial Stadium. This year we are hosting the annual civil war game between R.A. Long and Mark Morris. This is the first time that we have been able to be part of this annual event.

We would like to welcome Nobles Elton Strange, Ernie Halleck, and Billy Wolfe to our club. We hope to have our annual paper drive on Oct. 3rd.

Due to the holidays our club meetings will be on the November 13th and December 18th.

POTLUCK

Come one come all… We will hold our 5th Tuesday Potluck on Tuesday,

Sept 30th at 6:30 pm. The lodge will furnish the meat and potatoes. Please

bring a salad, dessert or anything else you might choose. We will have a New Year’s Eve Potluck on

Wednesday, December 31st @ 1:00 pm.

LODGE PICNIC

A large number of our Masonic Family turned out for our 5th Tuesday Potluck in July. WB Dale Ashley was the head hamburger chef and all enjoyed the fellowship and good food. Let’s do it again next year!!!!!

Coffee Stops are a great way to raise additional funds for

the lodge family. They are also a way to meet people and spread Masonic good will.
