45. Description and House Plan:

!S t)scOne and one-half story, three-bay, hall-parlor, dry-stone house. Stones tooled and coursed. Upper Ordovician limestone, Kope Formation. Exterior chimneys, each end, flanked by square attic windows. No voussoirs, frames not pegged, ovolo trim.

Interior refinished with wood sheathing which covers fireplaces. Original woodwork replaced except window frames, which have beaded corners (larger than usual) and ovolo trim. Open corner stair rebuilt. All changes around turn of the century.

A late 19th century frame eU was added to rear, with one side of roof at different pitch to cover a side porch (now enclosed). The shed porch on the front of the house is the same period as the rear ell. The shed porch on rear of ell was added when the side porch was enclosed in the early 20th century. These additions do not destroy the unity and form of the original house.

The house is located in a flat valley bordering the Ohio River and Chalfant Creek which was named for the owner of the house.
